My son will carry few books wherever he goes. he will read when he has nothing to do.<br /><br />Even when eating or doing big businesses he will also read.<br /><br />In class, if he has finished he work, he will take out his book. With IQ no EQ.<p></p></blockquote>gotta slowly change his \"me-first\" mindset.  i dunno for you, but i find that my boy tends to relate better with his father more as he grows older.   So sometimes i get my hubby to 'counsel' my son whenever i can't handle his behavioural issues <img src="https://forum.kiasuparents.com/assets/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f642.png?v=f4f27f6278e" class="not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji--slightly_smiling_face" style="height:23px;width:auto;vertical-align:middle" title=":-)" alt="🙂" />  <br /><br />The two of them now go on weekly 'breakfast dates' at nearby coffee shop - only two of them.  They will chat about his sch, homework, or anything that interest my son. As long as I don't keep my nose in a thick book all day long...<br /><br />I'm scared of my dad and he sets down rules like no reading while eating, and I follow it.<br /><br />I think it all depends on himself. He has to change his mindset and he must have self-discipline. <br /><br />Perhaps you could talk to him and control his reading obsession by rewarding him?
