But you have to wait VERY patiently for your books to arrive (via ship) - around 6-8 weeks from the time they inform you books have been despatched.

Yup, I had to go through the same. They might take some time to 'audit' your order. The website does show the various steps and how long it's supposed to take for each step. Just keep in mind it's china time. 😛

Waited for 3 days for audit to end. Finally, I sent an email to follow up on my order and miraculously the audit was passed next work day. Order received by my china friend very very fast. They will even ask you to check your order and confirm everything is ok.
Thanks to fellow forum users like you for sharing your experience at the other thread. Otherwise, I wouldn't dare to order from them too. Although it's still too early to conclude, but I am relatively confident that the transaction will go ok. :xedfingers:

Now, I am eagerly waiting for the book 好妈妈胜过好老师 after reading so much from all of your posts at the other thread.

I just ordered from their website yesterday after reading the \"teaching chinese at home\" thread. Received a notification that the payment by credit card could not be processed yesterday. Luckily other forum users have warned not to duplicate payments even when the website shows issue with payment. I did not process a 2nd payment yesterday and decided to wait and see what happened. Looks like this is true since they sent email today to asking for confirmation of card number (first 4 and last 4 numbers). Just responded. Let's see if the books come and will also monitor my card.

true, but dang dang's prices are very hard to beat for chinese books. I went agog! even with the shipping charges factored in, it's still way cheaper to order from them than buy in SG.

You can find out more from 'Teaching Chinese at home' thread. I think quite a few people have tried dangdang and they successfully order and had it sent to Singapore.


I ordered and had it sent to my friend's place in china. took about 1 plus week and that's becos I'm a newbie so they need to do more confirmation check. Monitored also my credit card account and it seems ok.

You can google dangdang, it's not a fly-by-night company, and i think it's backers quite ok. I was surprised to see.

News in 2010:

HONG KONG, May 17 (Reuters) - Dangdang.com, known as the Chinese equivalent of Amazon.com, has hired two banks for a U.S. initial public shares offering, aiming to list by the end of the year, sources close to the deal said on Monday.

Dangdang.com had hired Credit Suisse to underwrite its long-delayed IPO in the fourth quarter, the sources said, adding that the size of the offering had not yet been fixed. (US$1=HK$7.75)
