For those parents whose children are in Cambridge YCK (Tamarind Branch), may I have a review of the school in terms of the teacher-student ratio, the attitude of the teachers, the management and the curriculum (iSTEAM) if it is as good as advertised?

I’m considering to transfer my child to this school even though it’s at a late phase for her preschool years. Hence i’m hoping that this is the right decision and it works out well.

Some teachers have also been transferred from the Mei Hwan branch. I searched and found that the Mei Hwan branch is no longer listed on their website. Anyone has any anything to share about your current experience with SGCC and past experience with the Mei Hwan branch under this principal?

My boy was with Cambridge Mei Hwan since he was a toddler. Yes, Cambridge Mei Hwan Kept changing their Management and Principal...... They will change Management again in Yr 2018 and operate under another \"Name\". Unable to advise u on the principal as I have no idea which principal u are mentioning as they change quite a few principal when my boy was there. Some was friendly and polite to children and parents and some are not..........

I have not been active in this forum for awhile since my concerned was addressed 1 year ago. I happened to come here and read about mummies asking feedback for YCK branch. Thought I should provide mine too.

My 2nd child was transferred from another Cambridge branch (standard dropped) to YCK last year. YCK branch standard is much higher than where my boy came from. My boy had a huge gap in term of development as compared to his peers in YCK when he first started. But, in the good hands of principal and teachers, my boy improves tremendously and grown to becoming confident and enjoying school. They encourage and give morale booster to my boy for his learning journey especially during the period when he had a lot to catch up. The principal and teachers will periodically providing me feedback and their observation of him. Their enrichment classes such as phonics, speech & drama classes are outsource and the enrichment class teachers are great too.

Comparing the experience of 2 branches, I strongly believe the principal of a school is the key as this person needs to lead the fellow teachers and bring school standard up to mark so that children can build strong foundation and ready for the main stream. I know YCK can meet my expectation as I had good experience with them (my elder child was once under their management and managed herself very well in transition to P1). YCK is further from our home now but for the sake of our 2nd child and wanting him to receive the same standard of education as his elder sister, distance has becomes secondary. I am glad that I managed to get a space for him after a long wait :rahrah: :love: .

Dear Mummies who have children in Cambridge YCK at Tamarind Road, pls share more about the teachers, environment, curiculum...... basically everything abt the school. Thank in advance

My son is currently at Cambridge YCK now, having transferred there this year in K1 after being at Cambridge SGCC for a few years since toddler class. The standard at Cambridge YCK is so much higher compared to SGCC and initially when he first transferred, he had some problems catching up. The teachers are very patient with him and he's having so much fun learning there now! They have very interesting excursions like bringing the zoo to the school and visiting the Live Tortoise and Turtle Museum (I never knew it existed!) to reinforce their learning. Also, Cambridge YCK has way better communication with parents compared to SGCC, something which I really appreciated as communication at SGCC was virtually non-existent. Even though YCK is further away for me now, I am very glad I transferred him. My only regret was I did not do it sooner. Go visit the centre, speak with the teachers and find out for yourself 🙂

my children are from Cambrige Sgcc too. Totally agree with you. My girl also came back telling me that she is not allowed to have extra when she asked for it during meal time and snack time.
Am now thinking of withdrawing her from the Centre.
Kind of disappointed after the change of management and standard of the Centre has dropped a lot.

Exactly. The new mgmt raises fees....... but their service and standard provided are really uncomparable to the previous management. The withdrawal notice had recently changed to 2 months; not the usual 1month across most of the CC! I prefer the previous mgmt too, that why hubby insist to put my boy there few years back. The children looks happy and bubbly looking(plump plump which mean they are all eating well & enough). The currently mgmt control the serving of food each child can take! Each child is only entitled to 1 serving, no extra. There was once i get my child a 2nd serving, the very evening he came back from school and tell me that \"Teacher said i can only eat 1egg, cannot take 2 \". I was like *@#*@#, what the heck! Charged so exp yet don't provide enough for the children. My boy is in the growing stage yet can't eat abit more! Christmas party coming, to save their labour and costs; they are asking each child to prepare a dish requested by them for 10paxs. Not any dish that we are willing to prepare; i am made to prepare nuggets. We don't take processed food like sausages and nuggets at home, now to accomodate their request i had to buy a pack of nuggets.?! They only provide plain bee hoon! My boy is currently with Cambridge Mei Hwan. Ever since they change Management in 2014, their fees kept increasing yearly. They also charged a lot of extra enrichment programme separately. Eg $220 for 10 lessons of Step Up Phonics excluding material fees of $140, $132 per month for Chinese reading programme, $95 per month for Art Explorer, $70 for 4 lessons of English S&D & $40 for 4 lessons of Chinese S&D apart from their monthly school fees of $1200. I ever thought of not letting my boy joined all the extra programme but majority-almost all went for the extra lessons except mine. If he do not joined them, he will be left with a relief teacher(better known as Auntie helper) and some toys :slapshead: It will be very tight on my budget if I were to let him take up all the extra lessons as I have 2 more kids. Since the CC charged such high fees, shouldn't they include these extra lessons FOC in the curriculum because some of these extra lessons are taught by FT teachers with the school! Not engage from outside providers.... Any mummies with children in other Cambridge pls share whether its the same across all Cambridge CC?
