She told me that she has finally found a good teacher.

One time (March2016) I accompanied my colleague to Sylvia Ng studio to take a look, for my future reference in case DD want to change teacher. Yes the studio is very small… There is a grand piano and upright piano on level 1… 2 rooms on level 2 with probably 3-4 keyboard outside the room (I think it is meant for group lesson/ students can practice on that). First room nearer the stair has 2 pianos if im not wrong… then the next room has 1 piano 1 keyboard.

The studio smells like flower? There were flowers everywhere. I’m not sure if it’s positive or negative but I’m a little bit uncomfortable with flowers smell.

Piano wise… according to my friend, the grand piano a little bit out of tune. She told that to Teacher Sylvia and she immediately react on that. A plus and a negative point = neutral haha

She conduct group and individual lesson. I think that’s why you found her teaching a lot of students at once? The rate is cheaper too for group.

When it’s my friend turn, as she has made it very clear, no one was there except me…

If you are looking for super patient teacher, I would say she is the one.
She is not very pushy so I would say, she expect students to practice at home, not during the lesson? May be that’s why some students didn’t progress that fast? - I think this applies to all kids (including my DD)

I transferred him to Sylvia’s group setting class. His progress is now faster and he enjoys the lessons. I am really grateful

Certainly very good if you want someone to pique the music interest of your kids. Think you must have read her website & she comes with impressive performance credentials.

However her studio is a little small & imo cramp though, as compared to YMS. I think the space constraint is due partly to her studio being on 2 levels, so the floor space is on each level becomes smaller. Why don’t you check it out for yourself. You’ll find that she’s a very friendly person to talk with. All this is based from my personal experience a few years back.
