I have encountered some kids come to my house never even say hi to the 长辈, got worse, treat them like helper order them to pour water :shock: DS told me these kids never get invited back for 2nd playdate lol.

Yup, mooncakes are not cheap. I ordered in July to enjoy the 30% early bird discount and put my collection date one week before 1st Oct (actual day).

I spent less compared to CNY. Pineapple tarts and Bak Kwa are not cheap too. If I just take from friends and relatives and not give something in return, I feel bad.

My husband and I believe (and practise) \"don't start something unless you intend to continue\"! So unless it's the first visit, or a special occasion, maybe no need to encourage her to start bringing a gift every visit. But when seasonally appropriate, like now, some mooncakes would be nice!

Yes, we do seem to have a different viewpoint on these 2 examples! I'm OK if they want to have a traditional wedding dinner, though I do hope they won't go over the top. Because I find that weddings (and funerals) are probably the only times the extended family and friends actually assemble in a single place! I don't place much importance on the food at family celebrations or gifts - I like gathering the family together, but the food can be basic.
