They'll claim that traditional toys are too dangerous.. iPod is safer..

Sounds familiar.. My 2yr old nephew wans an iphone.. Lolz..

And I'm one of the few parents out there who have only bought like less den 5 toys for each of my two kids. Lolz..

DD is almost 11 months young.
We haven't bought her any toys (yet).
She has 2, inherited from her cousins.
One is a musical mobile, which she doesn't play with anymore.
The other is a push-cart toy which she doesn't dare to play with as it goes too fast for her comfort, since she's just started to walk.

If we did start to buy her toys, DH and I reached a consensus that we wil not buy her any weapons of destruction i.e. guns, knives etc.

Forgot to add, her favorite toys (for now) are my iPhone and her bedtime storybook :love:

haha good idea.

But the seriousness of this should also be noted.
Toys by the dozen - not just the ones we buy but also from goody bags, schoool celebrations, party favours flood our homes , lying around and exposing the family to toxins unnecessarily. These need not be put in mouth etc for it to be harmful, they are constantly giving of harmful gases.

i am yet to know of one kid who is not overloaded with toys ( atleast as per their mums) . Perhaps its time for us parents to take a more farsighted approach... this could be a wakeup call for us
