I had brought this drawing book for my 5 year old girl. This is a great book because they have step by step to teach children how to draw the picture.

Just stock up enough art materials & boxes/ bottles for children to use. For national day, u can try recreating Singapore skyline with fireworks as background. Focus on the process not end product. I have lots of idea but no time to do.

As I’m a FTWM, I don’t have time to plan & teach my kids. Everyday, I get a sensing of what they r learning in sch or what happened during the day thru their drawings. On wkend, I will reinforce with books or online resources from what they learnt during the wk. For eg, my K2 son is learning solar system this term. So we do craft on planets & comets. We also do art stuff for special occasion, eg national day, can make flag, understand meaning behind crescent moon & rising stars. My 4yo girl is into hand printing now. So we make pictures with her hand prints, eg sun, flower, animals. We just have fun & play along, no structured art lesson req

Our art center is using Da Vinci programme and we have books that teach a step by step guidance on how to draw animals (sea animals series 1 and 2; farm animal series 1 and 2), maybe you could take a look and if you are interested can order it from us 😃
$12 per book.

For purchasing the book, you could come on Sat, 1 pm - 7 pm.

I also teach my kids art at home. This holiday, we did crayon etching, charcoal drawing, painting and even a wall mural. For the wall mural, the kids drew on the wall using crayon and I helped to outline using paint. The kids, 4 and 6, did not have the stability and physical strength to use a brush to outline on a wall yet.

Overall, very fun and fulfilling to do art with them at home 🙂[img]

After reading your post, i m very inspired to teach my DD by my own...
the experience is not only to cultivate her interest and ability but also like waht you said \"bonding\" along the journey....

agree that drawing is more about own style, imagination, creativity.....but but a good artist should have some very basic technique i suppose, though i duno what is that and what is required of ... 😛

anyway i nvr expected my DD to be a great aritist, i just want her to draw properly since she seems she loves drawing....to our disappointment, after two lessons of the CC course, she just shrugged off when i asked whether she loves the class...

your daughter is blessed to have a mother like you.... :celebrate:

My girl also attended one term art class then i stopped, i also find that she doesn't learn much in the class. because the teacher will not sit beside and guide my girl how to draw and also no basic step to follow.
The teacher will draw a soft line then my girl will follow it.
So I decide try to teach myself. ( I also not good in draw) Thank you very much . I got this book that help me to learn along with my girl.

Art does not depend on how good u are . Is all about the Creative and Imagination of Child and parent making idea together and the joy of spending wonderful time with wonderful resources .
I will says \"You can do it\"
I sure you can do it. Just like me walk together with my girl.

appreciate of their work is important to build up their confidence. I had paste my girl drawing on the wall. each time , she see it , she feel good. and she willing to draw.

If you are reading my blog. you should know my English is not good.
but I still manage to read story book to my girl.
All this is because of \" The Power of Love\".
and my girl learn phonics at home, HYPY at home, Maths.

THe books not arrived yet. and would like to seek your advice:
My DD (turning 5 in 3 mths) has been with CC drawing class for 2 weeks. (she is not talented as your DD). And i found the drawing class (beginner class) too difficult (1st lesson: draw two malay kids. 2nd lesson: draw 2 crabs...) Perhaps next lesson will be two areoplanes??? She has never learnt drawing b4. ANd the two crabs were drawed by her teacher and she just colored it. like that, i am afraid she won't learn anything...i will let her continue with the rest of the lessones but i will teach her at home from the very basic.....

do you think the parents like me who never learned drawing b4 can teach ? any Do's and Dont's?

The teacher offers free one to one trial class with no strings attached and is willing to travel to various places at no additional charges.

The teacher brought all the tools required during lessons and
assessed my son by telling him to draw all the shapes that he knows.
Next, she took out drawing papers and asked my son to follow her to draw some lines.

After joining the lines, a picture of lion came out! We became very excited as I never knew my boy had the talent for drawing!

Strongly recommend the school and the teachers!

yes This book is a very good resources for teaching young children to draw because every picture will only content 4 easy steps.
U can let her use crayon and color paint to color the picture that will make her feel more fun to draw. (their hand will not feel tiring) doing coloring)
if u are teaching " how to draw a dog"
asking her question like where can u see a dog ? what color do u like ?
who’s like dog ? do u wish to have a dog as a pet ?..
that folow by the step… in the way they will feel more like it.

It’s like those ‘written off’ books which are for sale.


I bought it around 2 weeks ago on a Wednesday. I recall seeing quite a number of copies left (around 15?). It’s at the far corner behind the assessment books (near their staff office). There’s a whole range of chinese books on sale there. It’s very disorganised. You might need to spend some time digging through.

Visited your blog am so impressed that you gal can draw so well :rahrah: My 2nd gal is also 5 years old this year and she also likes to draw and so coincidentally she is also a left-handed 😉 I am one that can't draw well so am searching high and low for those coloring and drawing materials to teach her.
