Xinmin @ Hougang - They're known to push the students to study hard. During exam period, they have very large countdown boards & they will always remind students to plan their time well, start revision early, etc. I have good impression of their students from my trips there to invigilate and join in teachers' trainings and some school events.

2. Zhonghua @ Serangoon Central - I've not visited the school before but my NIE classmate is teaching there and she told me that the school is good. She likes the students there (well-mannered) and she did mention that their results are good.

3. PLMGS @ Lor Ah Soo (btw Kovan & Serangoon MRT) - My alma mater and I taught there before. They take in a wide range of pupils with different academic abilities. And they have different programs (numerous) to cater to different groups. For the high ability students, they have Maths Olympiad trainings and Accelerated Maths program where the girls at S3/4 are doing A level maths. They also offer Music at O level. I know of many girls who take 9 - 10 students at O level at the school and scored very well. There's also a change in Principal last year. She's very good. Dynamic and a motivator. She's pushing the school to new heights with good changes made. You can take a look at the school website (go to the individual dept website to see what they do and what they have to offer). http://www.plmgss.moe.edu.sg (Go and look at 'Programs and read up about ACE program for high scorers)

mrswongtuition

Reply to Which Secondary School near Sengkang on Sat, 11 Sep 2010 02:40:46 GMT

As a student residing in Sengkang(like I’ve mentioned), I don’t really think that Nan Chiau High is good enough for crystal8135’s daughter. Her results are really good,if her DD could push her English results to the high 80s zone, I think she would do well for her PSLE. Around Sengkang, there isn’t really good secondary schools. I live near to Compassvale Secondary, Nan Chiau High School etc. But for me, I don’t think I wish to study in the schools around Sengkang.
