<![CDATA[Sensory Processing Difficulties]]>Hi there


i am new to the this forum and i have a 5 yr old son who is diagnosed to have Sensory Processing Difficulities.

His school teacher commented that he does not have much eye contact and has delayed processing. I brought him to have an assessment done at KKH abt 2 yrs ago. The peds there say he is not autistic and has some sensory issues. I first come across this term then. Did a lot of reseach on my own"on this term "Sensory processing Disorder".

Initially my son is receiving OT at KKH but i realise the OT there was not really good for my son cos the wait is too long and the OT does not really do much things with him. That’s when i switch him to KIDZ OT where he has been receiving therapy for almost a yr and i would say that he has improved quite a lot.

Besides this, he is also receiving ST lessons and social skills group once every week to help him on that. I hope all these will get him ready for P1 in yr 2012.

i came across the comments here on Dairy and Gluten Free Diet & enzyme therapy. Can anyone telll me more on this ?

He's lucky in that it doesn't interfere with his daily life or his cognitive and social abilities, except that he can be very intense, and he has zero sports skills. It's hard to say what exactly contributes to what, because he's got other issues as well, all in the extremes. For example, his visual processing is so poor that he should be dyslexic, but isn't. The net result is that he's a happy and fairly well adjusted if not quirky 7yo.

He's on a gfcf, egg free diet and I think it has helped in that he's finally eating 3 meals and sleeping close to 8 hours a day. Frankly, I've been piling on enzyme therapy as well as a host of other treatments, so I can't say what exactly is helping, but there is improvement overall!
