<![CDATA[Immunisation records for Pri 1 registration]]>Hi just wanted to find out from parents who have gone thru the daunting task of registering their little ones for Pri1.


Read from MOE http://www.moe.edu.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/required-immunisation/ that kids must have completed all listed immunisations.

We didnt follow the immunisation schedules stated in the health booklets due to having read how some immunisations have gone wrong to affect the child adversely... So we delayed most of the required shots till our boy was much older. Anyway right now he has Hep B shots outstanding and just wanted to find out if the school will make any issue with this if we decide not to have him immunised before he starts Pri1?

Try calling the school you want to apply to and ask what they need. Alternatively, you can call MOE to ask. If you have proof of immunisation from India in English, it may be sufficient. But do ask ahead of time!

What I did for my son who had a foreign non-English record, we went to Polyclinic and the nurse help me to translate and input to the immunization registry but we are Singaporean, might not work for foreigner.

You can just bring along the indian immunization cert during the registration, hopefully is in English.... I have friend who just bring along the foreign cert which is not 100% English but can figure out words like BCG, MMR bla bla with dates indicated, it was accepted by the school.

Just happened to call up MOE today and have asked about the vaccination summary. Parents will only need to bring along our child's Health Booklet on the registration day. Hope this helps.

Yes, you won't be allowed to register without the vaccination certs. You can register online for Phase 2C & 2C Sup, but you still have to bring the certs along when you manage to secure a place.

It's not a must for our 2009 LO, it's confirmed that they can do it in school ard june2016.
But I have a qn, my certificate issued by my boy's pd is only of half A4 size, do I still need to go to that moe link to print out a copy or I just photocopy my pd's copy to submit during registration ?
hi nlimm, as long as it's signed/stamped by a doctor certifying all necessary shots done, they don't quite care what format. Ds1 shots all recorded in the book itself, a nurse from one of the doctors transferred DS2 shots into a separate piece of paper....no one come back to say cannot.

The pd I went to is a family friend. His clinic does it for all his little patients in a similar situation. I believe the GP or polyclinic staff will do the same.


No need to rush at registration phase as long as things are in order by the time your child starts P1. My dd is in phase 1 and the documents were submitted 3 weeks back, without the swee swee copy 😄

I suppose with the PD consult rates... this should be one of the free services 🙂 the GP I spoke to made the effort to help me find out the email address for NIR but wasn't interested in certifying the records.
My kids were born overseas, and both had some or all the early jabs overseas too. I went to the polyclinic and the nurse updated the NIR for me. This was 15 yrs ago, but I expect they should still do it for you, and could be even more efficient now? Anyway, for purposes of P1 registration, I think the overseas records should be sufficient. You can add a note to say that you have sent your records to the NIR but they are still processing it. You can add a copy of the email from NIR.

My kids never went to a PD either. The only time they did was at P5 when the polyclinic wouldn't give them their compulsory jabs (because it's only done through the schools, apparently) and they weren't in Singapore school. The PD was a friend who offered to give them the jabs, so they weren't actually there for a consultation!

The overseas immunization records usually look very messy n worse if the records aren't in English 😓


I got a certified copy of the overseas immunization records from my singapore PD during one of our visits to the clinic, and the staff updated the local database. When everything is updated and in order, the clinic printed a swee swee copy for me n ask me to go n collect.

The school that u enrol your child in will eventually need the proper records. It's not the school's job to try and decipher foreign/overseas documents. Just make sure your dd has taken all the compulsory age-appropriate vaccinations set by MOH.

my DD was born overseas and took all (or most) of her jabs overseas. Was told by my GP (and also NIR staff) that I could email NIR with the overseas immunisation records (which frankly speaking, to me… looks quite …informal… apart from the stickers showing the batch number and expiry that they actually peel off from the bottle of vaccine they used! the name is haphazardly handwritten by the parent/doctor/nurse etc).

The idea is that NIR will then update our Sg database with it so that I can download and print off a "swee swee" local style copy for P1 registration exercise this July.

It’s been a whole week since I emailed them and NIR hasn’t replied me to say updated or not. I emailed MOE and here’s a quote frm the email

"We would like to share that you can still register your daughter during the Primary One (P1) Registration Exercise, even if she has not completed the required immunisations."

So ah… my question is - if die die cannot get NIR to update in time, I can still rest easy right? pri school not gonna turn me away just cuz I don’t have the "correct" local style immunisation records right? technically speaking they can simply accept my overseas records? I’m pretty sure she has all the required immunisations done.

During registration, I submitted both copies of itemized one and combined ones. I had one certified from the pediatrician and one printed from the website. The school collects both my photocopies during registration.

There seems to be a change of immunization schedule for MMR D2.
Those born before Dec 2011 did not have the MMR D2 at 18mths coz its suppose to be administered at 6-7 years but MOH changed the schedule for MMR d2 to 18mths of age in Dec 2011.

So Anyway, phew , i just manage to speak to MOE Ms. Jia min on this and she said it will not affect the P1 registration because its a new system after Dec 2011.

I checked with MOH and they informed that for children under the old system where MMR2 was supposed to be administered much later, not having the vaccination at the point of registration will not affect the P1 registration. We can then get the vaccination at any time outside. Apparently, the guy on the phone said that they don't do this in school anymore.

Hi, you mean for kids born in 2007 are not affected if MMR 2 not done?

Use it for registration.


Chicken pox, pneumococcal are all optional. My 3 boys din jab any of the optional jab…
