<![CDATA[All About CCTV/spy camera for monitoring maids]]>Hi, would like to do a poll to see how many of us would actually install a CCTV, or spy camera to monitor our full time maids, when there’s nobody at home (when both parents are out at work.)


And hopefully can get answers from those who installed. Will it become a white elephant in time to come? Is it worth the money and time to ‘jagar’ someone you don’t trust?

I installed a few cameras in my new place. My current maid with us for 8 months but she very upset and her face super black after we moved into new house. only much later then i found out she angry with the cameras. but i told her i did not install because of her but in case got break-ins.

All the camera have to buy additional memory card to saved the video . The downside is i have to install the 3 pin power plug (each sgd 75) to provide power to the cctv wireless camera.

I’m using edimax & Foscam webcam & realised the last 2 helpers switched off my webcams.

One happily slept on my bedroom while we were on holiday. Only found out when I got home cos there were nail polish stains on the floor.

The other one was searching my room. may have lost some cny money.

And I will prefer to let my helper know that the IP Cam are installed rather than hide from them. But there are pros and cons lah, my friend’s helper will always adjust the IP Cam to the angle to her advantage, so if getting 180C view one will avoid this issue lol.

I used to see if my helper is too relax. Somehow a mysterious call will come if you're slacking too much.

The newer maids are consistently increasing their usage of electronic devices whilst working. Its not a problem for them to use sparingly but when an expensive shirt gets burnt while the maid is ironing and talking on the phone at the same time, that’s where disputes happen.


im thinking of putting cameras at critical work areas. no choice nowdays.

We are both working parent and I just installed few IP Camera in my house.
Without Camera I really dare not put my kids alone with the maid where there are too many unhappy cases happened.
Not I don't trust the maid but I feel more comfort with those camera at home.
I let the maid know about the Camera and hope there understand my meaning.

I search from internet(Q010, Carousell most common at singapore) and I found that mostly sell in crazy high price....
Finally I found 1 good price and good item from this guy at Carousell,
He is selling 2 type of camera
360 ip cam other people selling $188 - $288 but he only selling about $100 - $120.
110 Angle ip cam ther people selling $50 - $70 but he only selling $35

Starting I worry whether it is pirated or fake item, once I bought 1 he guide me how to install with free where some charges too. I used it for about 4 month and so far so good all the item.
1 thing is I need to collect from him by myself.

Because of its wireless connection (not so stable as cable cctv), IP cameras sometime cannot connect to router, sometimes need to reset. But IP cameras are more flexible, no need cable work.
I recommend to install cctv system, more stable.
