But at that time I could not think of his Chinese name for him. They told me birthcert name can be changed within 1 year so I thought still got time. About 9 months later, I finally decided on his Chinese character name and went back to do the birthcert. Who knows the officer gave me an \"Extract of Birth Cert.\" and do away with the original! I was so sad and pissed, they told me if I were to change the English name, it is allowable but to ADD IN a Chinese character name is equivalent to I dunno what hence kerna got to return old one and get an \"Extract\"!
:x
I just feel so sad just because of this my son now got an \"Extract\" Birth Certificate instead of the original. But we Chinese must put in the Chinese character no matter what, right? Also they said within 1 year it is OK to change! Really don't understand.

By the way, also dunno whether you encounter this but when I went to add in the Chinese character name, the officer asked me to explain why didn't I add in at the beginning when I did the birth cert? I said I could not decide on it yet. Then she further insisted that my husband came with me and sign something or to do collection or whatever. The whole time I felt that they were very suspicious of something (and suspicious of my request) but I dunno what they were thinking about.

DesertWind

Reply to Name in IC on Sun, 17 Oct 2010 05:08:55 GMT

duriz:
mrswongtuition and verykiasu2010, you two are too hilarious

Yeh, really hilarious!
