I took math and science there. And my science was definitely helped. My math had improved by so much that my PSLE t-score ended up with math and science A*, 262+3. I must admit that the math teacher was really good. She was willing to explain questions to me. I especially enjoyed the challenging questions. She also goes monetary rewards to me whenever we score well. Due to the great teaching, I ha achieved best in math for many years. The Science teacher changed. However, I think that both teachers had been equally great. The husband was really caring. The new teacher, Mr Chua turns out to w their nephew. He was a great teacher. I clearly remember messaging

At late night. Yet, he gave me a detailed explanation. With this great experience, I miss the time there alot and I am going to return on teachers day to thank the awesome teachers I have met(:

I have never tried meow tuition centre as my dd does not have maths and science tuitions but I do know this centre as my dd’s good friend attended this centre in the past and I heard a lot about this tuition centre from the mom. The mom was surprised that this popular tuition centre is very near to my home and yet I never send my dd there.

Meow is started by a husband and wife team and they used to give tuition in their landed residence in Jurong West only (the Westwood Drive centre). The husband teaches Science and the wife teaches Maths. Their tuition fee per month is very low (something like $100 plus per month). But their classes are very big, can be 20+ students per class. They use lots of worksheets to drill and teach. They are in this line for 10+ to 20 years (or more) so they have accumulated lots of worksheets. I have visited their residence once and saw lots of worksheets piling up. They also use an incentive system (which I forgot what it was) to motivate the children. And yes they are very good and effective. Many students come from all over the island. Their students come in vehicles as the parents will drop/pick up them. My dd’s good friend stays in town but comes all the way to Jurong West twice a week for her Maths and Science tuition.

Over the last 1-2 years, the couple have expanded their business from one centre to five centres. I heard from my dd’s friend’s mom that they have pooled investment from friends and others and started to buy commercial properties to set up tuition centres. They cannot run all the five centres and they have reduced on their teaching time since they have more admin work to handle now.

That mom did feedback to me that while the husband and wife are very good in teaching, the other teachers are not so good. So my dd’s friend has dropped Science when she could not get the husband to teach her. The husband is focusing on secondary science now.

So if you manage to get the husband or wife to teach your kids, I would say go for it! 🙂

tuition in this centres at JW.
Their feedback
1) always change teacher. Most of the time relief teacher.
2) teachers mark more than they teach.
3) return papers, never go thru, just copy corrections without
understanding what went wrong.
4) their grades did not improve.
5) they employ undergrads as tutors bcos my
students said the teachers are very young.

Pri Sch math is not easy, esp P5 and P6 math,
with all the different types of heuristics
and prob solving methods, how can undergrads teachers
effectively teach to improve?

If your kid is under the teacher meow, then good bcos she’s likely
to be the boss of the centre, and so will do her best to teach.

So my students parents give up, and got me to tutor them.
I’m proud to say that my 2 students, who are twins and never pass math
since p3, pass their PSLE maths.

This is not an advert for myself, pls.
Just my feedback on the centre.
Pls ask the qualification and the age of the
teacher teaching your child.

Both my girls (P4 and P5) joined Meow after their SA1 this year as they were not doing well in their maths. Teacher Meow is a very good teacher and both my girls improved by some 10 marks in just 4 months (from 84% in SA1 to 94% for SA2 for my P4 girl and 58% to 70% for my P5 girl). My girls enjoy her lessons very much and I am amazed that they even like doing the homework given by Teacher Meow. She has definitely made my girls more confident in their maths 🙂

Her DD took maths and science in there - and did very well in her psle (some years already). Good comments generally. Her elder kid went to learning lab, was surprised that she put her younger kid with meow. But end up her younger did far better than the older in psle.
