1. Choice of Full day (vs Half) and the difference in the child's energy level, interest and holistic learning - especially for 3-4 year olds.
2. Evaluating NAFA vs other full-montesorri or other kindergarten schools of similar standing
3. If you've experienced another (older) NAFA campus before, how would you compare/rate the new one in main campus?

We chose derby due to the small class ratio, albeit the travelling distance (we’re based in the east). The sch updates us regularly and the teachers are great! I guess east coast classes are much larger and the teachers are unable to give similar attention to parent.

My son is in the Nursery class at east coast this year. Just wondering how often updates are provided to parents and what kind of updates ? So far I feel the teachers lack communication with parents and even not much update via the portal. Son still cries on and off in school. Spoke to teachers but they don’t seem so approachable. How are ur kids’ experience this year so far? Honestly heard so many good things so am kinda disappointed.

But as both of us are working , issue of logistic seems to suggest a ft cc make more sense. If you were me which will you choose ?

about ms allison - she was my principal during my time at thw kindergarten. i always remember as the tall, nice lady who always comforted us when we were crying and always walked around campus in her high heels 😂 she was always a joy to my parents, as they tell me now. the school frequently talks to the parent about the child's growth and behavior in school.

nafa is a very 'hands on' school, but what i learnt from the school helped me a lot in primary 1, and i think thats one of the reasons why i was able to sail smoothly all the way to p6. compared to other schools, think nafa gave us more chances to experience different ways of learning/trying new things. if any of you are questioning how well nafa is academically, i think theyre actually a school which teaches academic studies strategically in order to let the children have fun while doing it. in primary school, i didnt have to study very hard to obtain a high grade as, like i mentioned before, i figured out my learning style and was able to learnt faster from it.

even in primary school i took piano outside of school, and am now a grade 7! i took ballet until p3 before i stopped to go into acting. i
am now a theatre student in sota! and if anyone is wondering how much i got for the psle, it was 256 😄

if anyone is thinking, that was so long ago! how can we trust that it is still up to date information? well, my younger cousin just graduated last year, and is now in p1. i know he has enjoyed his years in nafa as when he was still in the school, whenever i went over, he used to tell us a boatload of stories about his friends, the excursions, etc. i love the fact that nafa, and im not sure about other kindergartens, take many photos of us doing just about everything. it could be just us playing at the playgrounds, to talking acting as an animal, to just about anything! i also love that during graduation, they show the photos they took from when you first entered nafa, to k2. even now as i look through my photos, i get really emotional 😢

overall, what i wanted to say is that i really enjoyed my time in nafa, and i cried during k2 camp because i really didnt want to leave the sheltering walls of nafa arts kindergarten. my english teacher changed almost every year, so i dont remember her, but my chinese teacher was the same throughout all my years there. 王老师 was my chinese teacher, and i went back about a year ago because i had to pick up a cousin, and she still remembered me after five years! i think this goes to show that the teachers in the school are really dedicated to their jobs and in teaching the kids. i loved going to nafa and my mom always tells me stories about how much i whined during the holidays that i wanted to go back to school 😓

My son started schooling in NAFA after the june holidays so far he is happy there. I find the school is not very academic but they has alot of hands on. When they studied on weather they are asked to wear rain coats in the rain n sunglasses under the sun. They had a portal where photos are uploaded regularly so we know what they are doing in school and I can tell the kids are enjoying themselves.

Since then, Ms Allison oversees both campuses. She is still based at Derbyshire and I believe the senior teachers in East Coast now play a larger role in keeping the East Coast campus running.

I pretty like the curriculum, but a bit of concern on the teachers - one of the teacher I saw during the visit had a black stern face. I heard that the teachers are inexperienced and cannot control the child well ( perhaps they are new to the school last year). I wonder if the situation has improved since then. Met with Ms Alison and I think she is great, but I think teacher is more important.

😓 Quite disappointed when I got to know of this transfer via email from Nafa. I joined the Eastcoast one partly also hearing good reviews of Ms Allison as a responsible, hands on, often organizing events for the kids etc etc. Nevertheless, I still like their school curriculum.

Second day of school for my boy at pre-nursery group, and I quite like his teachers. The teachers are firm. They 'chase' all parents out from the class despite some of the kids are still crying for mummy. My boy is one of the crying kids. And when I try to peek from the windows, the teachers ask me not to peek as my boy will cry more if he sees me.
And true enough, 20 mins later, I heard silence no crying coming out from the classroom after all parents are \"chased\" away. :rahrah:
The remaining hours stayed peaceful haha.. Hopefully third day remains well *keeping fingers crossed*

Just went down to visit the Derbyshire branch. I liked the environment very much, classroom set up is bright and clean, playground is big and spacious. The only concern i have is whether it is prep for K1. I am switching my son from Mindchamps which he is K2 next year. I am also afraid it may be disruptive to him. Furthermore the Derbyshire branch didnt have any K2 student at the moment for me to see and compare. What attracts me is the art, music and speech and drama incorporated so I need not send him to additional classes on weekends.

Any parents have kids starting Pre Nursery and K2 in 2015 at Derbyshire branch like to share your experience?
