Yesterday I was reading di zi GUI to ds1 who is going to be 6. There is a paragraph which teaches ru ze xiao, sorry I dunno how to type Chinese.

Basically it means when parents call us, we must response immediately and not dilly dally to answer them, if parents want us to do something, we must do it fast, cannot be lazy, when parents scold us, we must not talk back, etc.

Then ds1 asked me, then why u scold me? Do u know you dun have manners when u scold me?

I dunno how to answer him. How to teach him, I also dunno.

These classes are usually free or nominal fee.


Kallang CC has dizigui class on saturday afternoon next year at 3pm and we have been with the teacher for 5 years. Our boys have promoted to understudy 论语

Hi everyone!

There is a new Du Jing Ban 读经班 class on San Zi Jing 三字经, Di Zi Gui 弟子规, Hundred Filial Piety, 百孝经, etc conducted by a non-profit organisation.

Day: Saturday Time: 4 pm to 5.30 pm. (once a month, ongoing)

The class teaches the Chinese classics with daily life explanation and examples, recitation, videos, games & activities. Conducted in Chinese (English translation available). For ages between 6 and 12 (primary school children) Some of the teachers are current school teachers.

All classes & study materials are Free of charge! Light refreshment & snacks are included for the children too.

With the aim of developing the children's good character and personality. Fine traditional Chinese culture and moral education are dedicated through the influence of classics, which can then nurture and strengthen the child's memory, comprehension, language proficiency and reading skills.

The class is now opened for enrolment. All are welcome! Limited vacancies available!

my kid learnt dizigui. now whenever she doesn't behave well, I will sit with her every evening after dinner to make her recite the whole book, consecutively for a few days. I will tell her I am doing this because she has done wrong in what areas.

Just to share. There are some FREE copies of Di Zi Gui books with cartoons, hanyu pinyin and explanation at Bedok Library now. The books are placed at the exchange corner shelf on left hand side of main entrance. About 6 copies left.

Also, I am interested to sign up my dd for a holiday Di Zi Gui class. I’ve called Yuquan and Xue Ni Language school and they told me they have intention to open such a class this holiday. If anyone else interested, you can call them to leave your contacts and they will open a class once there is a demand.
