Anything anyone would add here? Most of the comments are from 10 years ago...

Obviously, both are SAP, co-ed, ~300 students, IP (all 6 years in the same spot with some add'l students via the JAE). Anything other than distance (or if both of them are roughly the same distance)?

I did notice River Valley seems to have a few more subject combinations than DHS. I.e. can take CSC (China Studies in Chinese) and CLL (Chinese Language & Literature) [only with Math and Physics though] whereas DHS you can only take one of them. RVHS also has a Math, Physics, Computing, CSC combo (DHS cannot take Computing and CSC). Of course the subject combinations could change by the time you get there...

DHS COP typically a few points higher but overall they are pretty close (probably same AL or maybe one AL different starting next year)...

2020 A Level Results (vs. 2019):

DHS (2019, 2020):
Cohort Size: 365, 438
Median: 85, 83
Mean: 83 (2019)
3H2 Distinction: 40%, 30%
UAS 85+: 50%, 40%

RVHS (2019, 2020):

Actually, if the school is attractive (as perceived by the studrnts choosing the schools) enough, he/she will choose to travel the extra distance to the school. I don’t think distance is a great factor nowaday especially when MRT is getting more and more developed. many students with very high scores, for example 270++, who stay in Jurong chose to travel the extra distance to RI in Bishan instead of going to RV instead. But students (I am refering to those that achieve very high score like 265 or 270 and above) staying in Bishan will say that RV is "too far". So actually, it all depends on how attractive the school is. The perception can slowly change. I believe that A level results is one factor that people watch closely.

Suddenly thought of one difference between the 2 schools.

RV has no ‘O’ lvl class.
DHS has an ‘O’ lvl class.

Both RV and DH are excellent schools. Both schools have extremely new JC systems and the dunman high senior high section is constantly improving year by year. it is absurd to say that the education in dunman high lacks rigor, that is definitely not the case.

Yup, at least there is 1 IP which caters for the pupils in the East
and 1 in the West...... (not to count in the newly 7 IP sec schs)

From yr past postings, u are a 2010 P6 pupil who had taken yr PSLE.......

i am thinking if u really have SO MUCH ISSUES with DHS,
why not u make an appointment to see yr teacher in-charge or even the principal to try to see how to resolve them.
if u need help, u can post yr issues here, i’ll try to provide a link to the principal to take a look at it.

Since u had appealed to RGS after the S1 posting as read from yr past posting,
if u are really keen to join RGS,
why not follow-up with them, see what they have for u.

if you/your kids really hv problem, like what augmum have suggested, go see the form teacher. they should be able to help.

Thanks for this post. I changed DHS to RV at last minute when PSLE posting. Now I'm so glad of the change I made. My daughter only need 20min bus ride to RV from door to door. Congratulation for RV's excellent A level result.

yes, RV had done a good job,
but it still have to \"prove\" itself for consistency
juz like a pri school churning out excellent PSLE scores, parents would also like to look at consistency......
