<![CDATA[Gangs in Secondary Schools]]>Hi parents, don’t know if anybody’s kids have encounter this? My relative’s dd is being bullied by her classmates. I suspect her classmates has got ‘support’ from outside gangs so she is very aggressive… this classmate of her will everytime make things difficult and even asking others to boycott, is really headache… any advise how to deal with such situation ?

It’s because of the way the school is run, more specifically the rules and authority figures. For example if kids fight they will both be punished no matter who starts the fight. All of you might not this as the ‘I dont care who started it’ line. .In an adult world, whoever wronged the victim is guilty and the other guy has a chance to defend themselves. Also, if someone picks a fight with you in the adult world, you can just walk off from the fight or attempt to run away. In a school environment theres no way for you to run. Also school staff seem have to see the act of bullying before taking any action. If a teacher sees a student punching another then he or she will most likely to do something. But if a student tells a teacher he got punched most likely nothing would be done.


Long story short this encourages a bully to starts all sorts of trouble cos he can get away with it. Bullies are just kids using the rules to his advantage, and thats just human nature. So to stop bullying, the system to change first in order to stop bullies from being encouraged to do what they like.

As a result, she doesn't want to go to school at all. After she could not take it anymore, she broke down and in the end, she stopped schooling for 1 yr. Throughout this 1 yr, she kept on saying foolish things like wanting to die, doesn't want to burden her mother. Her mother said \" I have raised my dear daughter for 15 yrs, now she has changed so much, I feel so helpless\"

I cried when I heard that.
BTW, the girl is my relative's student.
My heart aches for the little girl. Now, she is recovering after transferring to another school.I so hate that boy who ruined her normal life.

few months ago, i sent an email personally to the minister in MOM and the next day, i got two phone calls, one from the quality manager and one from the customer service manager. i got my problem solved within a day. if i am going to follow their so-call protocol, i think my problem wouldn't solve till today....one pushed to another, liked merry go round....all refused to take ownership to the matter...

My relative reported to the police because those teenagers got challenged them to meet outside, so being worried of dd’s safety, they informed the police… and i heard one of the teenagers was an ‘ex-gang’ which he claimed that he already quit. So, it is still not confirmed that this involve the gang or not… And my relative was advised not to meet up with those teenagers cos most of them under 18…

please email him, he should be able to help :-

from my past experiences, its helped and things solved very fast. i did that to other ministries and my problems solved within a few days. Normally, you would get push here and there for weeks and the problems will still remain. Well, this is how our civil service works. Try emailing to him, state clearly to him that his men were not doing their job. Although there is a slim chance that he will read your email personally, but i believe the follow-up will be very fast. But you must prepare to put down your real name and contact no on the email for them to follow up. Hope this help.
