The school not only focus on academics but also organised outdoor activities to train them in other aspects. Of course, this year with Covid, the students definitely missed out a lot.


The teachers are very committed. When students have problems learning, they will talk to parents to understand more and help. Most teachers are even ok for students to contact them after school.

I thought I might share the details of the yearly event so that parents in future intakes can easily search for the info here and use it as a reference.


Typically in the second week of school, ZH students will go for a 2.5 day camping trip which requires them to stay in school. Details will be provided by the school in the form of a letter. On the last day, there will be a campfire event where students will gather and present performances, sing the school anthem and cheer for themselves to cultivate the school spirit.

For 2018, parents arrived in school at 4:30 pm and proceeded to the Hall for a briefing on what sec school syllabus/ CCA (LEAPS) is about. Then the audience were broken up according to class and taken to classrooms to meet with the form teachers. There will be additional details given and a chance to talk to the teachers in the Q&A session. Catered dinner was served with water and packet drinks. Vegetarian food was provided as well. (Packet style, not buffet). During dinner, you may casually chat with the teachers present if you have other specific concerns.

The campfire will begin after dinner. If it is raining, there will be a mock fire in the Hall. If it is dry, I heard that a real campfire will be lit. You may find out where your child’s class is sitting before the activity begins, so that you can find a seat closer to him/ her. The activity lasts till about 9 pm.

Cash card parking is available at the HDB multistorey car park. I think early bird parents are able to find parking within the school compound, but I’m not 100% sure.

Do call the general office a day in advance to find out more about the event for your particular year. This post is only a reference so that you have a rough idea, in case the office is closed at the time of reading and you’re making last-minute schedule adjustments to be there. Enjoy!

For express. Mainly like to know which English textbooks (M/c or Hodder Educ), which Maths (New Syllabus or discovering math), which Science textbook (M/c, Hodder educ or Star Publisher)?

I think the rest of the subjects mainly have 1 type in the market used by MOE (?), actually I am not sure also.

For handbells, I think it's a pretty cool CCA and interesting. There are many interesting CCA out there in ZHSS, but I see that Uniforn Groups kinda earn the most amount of awards(?)
School dicipline, whoa, it's quite strict. Maybe it's a bit too strict but it will help students be discipline enough and not too mischeivous. But, there is still life there, so it's not completely dead thou.
Hmm...vegetarian stall...There isn't a completely vegetarain stall there but there's like a mix veg stall there?
I'm not entirely sure about everything but i can ask my sister if you have any question haha. Sorry that im not allowed here again! Just wanted to let your questions be solved.
