Calling oneself 'high maintenance' has a certain cachet to it, i.e. one is of such 'high value' that one is deserving of high maintenance. Go to a high society ball or event, and I wonder how many of those ladies, decked out completely, will be happy if you dared call them 'LOW maintenance'. So yes, its a perversity, that the virtue of being 'low maintenance' has somehow become prejorative. Which is why I use that term with caution.


So, I guess we are mainly well grounded people here in this forum. I believe that 'low maintenance' is in fact self-sacrificing, and a virtue. Although I would not describe my wife as totally 'low maintenance' (more like medium-low 😉, she does enjoy the wine and dine, but not big ticket stuff like jewellery and bags), I can see how it takes a lot of stress out of the marriage and relationship.

actually these socialites don’t always have to buy the dresses that they only wear once. They are friends with the designers like Francis Cheong etc and have special deals with them such that they can ‘rent’ the gowns… why keep something you’re only gonna wear once?

II told my DH that he is very lucky to have a low maintenance wife like me, no need for weekly facial or massage, or expensive clothes, shoes and bags. Just lots of TLC and occasional surprise treats will do. 😛
I told DH that I am no maintenance to him, and somemore work and contribute $$, time and effort to maintain family! This type of 老婆 hard to find :oops:

Cannot tell that she can't speak proper English as she is often photographed in the high society magazines...I always assume she speaks well. Looks are indeed deceptive, :shock:
