<![CDATA[How to get rid of bathroom flies??]]>I am \"plagued\" by little black flies in my bathroom... They seem to come from the shower drain. I have sprayed insecticide into the drain constantly but they still come back. Anybody got any ideas on how to get rid of them permanently? :?:

Could it be due to the age of your dwelling, type of dwelling (high rise), the facing of your bathroom, lack of ventilation of your bathroom?

Flies will be attracted to the fragrant liquid and drown. Boil a pot of water and pour it down the drain 1-2 times daily for a week. Pour 1/2 cup of salt, 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of vinegar down the drain and allow to sit overnight. Follow with a pot of boiling water in the morning.
I think one of the main problem is that a lot of people do not clear the hair near and around the drain trap daily. The damp mass is the breeding ground for the flies.

Never have a problem with flies. It's the mosquitoes I can't stand. Maybe you can get the drain cloggers which have a ball that floats when there is water while you washed the toilet but drop shut when dry.

So far, I never see any of the bathroom fly anymore in my toilet. Still pouring hot water every few days. But still see lots of black worm coming out whenever I pour hot water (they hide near the drainage). Just wondering, where actually the worm come from? :?

Now I am using Mr.Muscle drain declogger fortnightly. Pour 1/2 of the bottle, followed the instructions on the bottle. So far, I hv not seen these flies at all.

In the past I also poured boiling hot water into the drains. It did not help much. I guess the eggs were on the sides of the drains. So I used the shower hot water to spray at the sides. Less fly after that.

I used to hv the same problem. My kids were so scared of those flies. They r small black worm before turning into the fly. I use toilet cleaner n they won't die. Then I just pour hot boiling water on the worm everyday, usually they live near the drainage n shower area. Now no more flies n I still pour hot water every now n then to prevent it from coming back. Maybe u can try using hot water also. Look for the place where the worm live.

That's what we do at our home too...boiling hot water.
Unfortunately, they will eventually make a return. 😞

For the fly u just hv to spray it with water n they will die already. But I use the bleach, toilet cleaner before n the worm still crawling. And only hot water will kill it. But must be boiling hot. Tried use hot water from the flask before n not all will die.

They start breeding once they hatched from the eggs so the only way to exterminate them is to find their breeding place and ‘fix’ it. They are attracted by light and usually lay their eggs along the drainage pipes in shower area.

I realised that my new place has a lot of such flies. Called the town council to do some fogging of the estate and it was better.

I have bought drain cleaner solution from Homefix and followed the cleaning instructions accordingly. But the flies will come back after 1 to 2 days. I will try bleach but not sure if it is strong enough to terminate them permanently.. It is so disturbing... 😞
