In Japan, it is not uncommon for staff to die of over work. Even if you don’t die, you may be at risk of a stoke or a heart attack. <br /><br /><br />I have not been in a situation where I live paycheck to paycheck but I hope I have enough savings to tide me over in case my job is affecting my health so much so that I have no choice but to quit. If it really happens, make lifestyle changes eg give up the car rent out a room.</p>

Is it because the company is not doing well or is it because of performance? <br /><br /><br />5 years is not a short time and he should already know the answer well. <br /><br />If it is due to the company’s financials, then he will also need to ask himself when and if an increment will ever happen. <br /><br />You have not indicated the stage of your friend. Different people want different things at different stage of their lives. It is good to run as far and as hard in the first decade of working life. May want or value some stability in the second decade. In the third decade, can close an eye to promotion and increment though some may want to make the most as the runway shortens.<br /><br />If it is about performance, then what change is needed to meet expectations if the intention is to stay.</p>

Although I have tried to look for a new job before quitting, due to the above reasons, I decided to quit.  So happen got the luck of having a child.  Till now become a SAHM.<br /><br />Right now in the middle of finding a good and responsible childcare centre, before I can have a peace of mind to continue my job search.</p>

I was more of weekend parent when i was working full time. So i quitted and was a 6-mths full time mum at home &amp; with the intention to take a good rest and find a part time job as i went along.  Thankfully my hubby was supportive and he agreed to contribute more to the family while i was not working.  And i chose to leave the company in end October where i could rest till end of year and look out for jobs when company starts hiring in Jan again.</p>

However, that’s not to stop anyone from quitting without a job if your current job is really hell. <br /><br />Mental health is more important than money. And never sacrifice the family for a job. Your kids and wife/hubby are the ones who will stick by you when you are old, not your company, colleagues or boss.</p>
