I was actually very impressed by letterland because the system is very interesting and worked very well for him. When I was younger, I never learnt phonics this way. We bought the letterland cd too as he loved the songs and we wanted to continue reinforcing the phonics teaching at home. It was actually very fun to watch him sing and dance, reciting the phonics at that very young age.

Not true.. in fact it's very fun if delivered in the way it's designed to.
Any methodology delivered by a passionate teacher will do its magic.
It's dependent on the human quotient. Give a solid programme to a
lackadaisical character, your children learn nothin. Or worse... learn
the wrong things! :roll:

Never take at face value anything you hear. Research it.

Blossom Discovery Centre at Lorong Chuan, the teachers use LETTERLAND and K1 are taught phonics. HTH.

They have Rigby Reading Books, Nat Geo learning materials. Chinese Reading (i can't remb the books). Their excursions are really good ( you have to pay separately) it can range from 5 dollars - 10 dollars. Recently, it was the gingerbread man play which i paid $25 for it.

E delivery also plays a part - e teachers in school make it more interesting with colorful teaching materials (like big posters) and music CD - e letterland song is quite catchy - my son picks it up within 1-2 weeks.
Anyway, as I mentioned, it is just one of e few systemsโ€ฆ u can go with anyone which works with your kids.

I bought one of the CDs, and it sounds very boring. Didnโ€™t manage to ask ds to sit throughout the CD to listen, whereas for other CDs, he can sit and listen.

hi, not quite true abt \"not much fun\". 'cause Letterland uses very colorful and catchy charaters to teach children phonics. The lessons are delivered with engaging stories and accompanying music. At least, my son loves e characters/stories and engages in interesting discussions with his mum... like some character catches away another character in a net, so u don't sound e character when sounding the word... ๐Ÿ™‚ I m quite clueless about phonics, unlike my wife... but I guess e success of any phonics system is its ability to make learning fun so that e child learn better and Letterland is definitely one of e more successful systems around.
