<![CDATA[Wearing watches]]>Dear all, what are your opinions on your children wearing watches? Should it be analog/digital? Should you buy them watches with character designs like Disney, Hello Kitty, etc or more serious watches, like Swatch?


What about the budget when buying them?

I'm thinking of getting one (analog) for my P3er as a birthday present, but knowing her she will likely eschew the analog one in favor of a digital one :stupid:

After buying, we sent to Rolex for authentification and the lady was like why are u authenticating a brand new watch. Told her my source and the price I paid. She checked for me and with AD discounted price, it was easily $1k+ less than local AD. My hubby also got his 2nd piece from someone from the website. There are alot of watch lovers out there. Afer this, we are now open to this idea but of course, need to authenticate.
Authenticate after buying?
What if it is not genuine?

Actually so stressful....... might as well pay for peace of mind?
Or maybe it is not as stressful as i think?

I called up both Watches of Switzerland and The Hour Glass and both selling that orange face Formula 1 model at S$1,800. Amazon US at USD839 and Amazon UK at 835 pounds. Wonder why US can be much cheaper...

Dare not buy from people/shops that I don't know. Gotta carry on to crack my head on this pc...
Actually I saw those F1 series in US duty free. Maybe different model but it was going at around S$1k after the discount. Was asking hubby if want to buy for my boy as price looks good but he is only P3 so abit too much.

For the buying from people/ shops, we found it daunting at first when we were shopping for rolex. We got our 1st from a shop that is not Authorised Dealer, they are like parallel importers who buy from overseas AD and it is for brand new watches. They have been around for 20 yrs and i got to know from this website. In fact, there are quite a no. of such shops around. A friend went to HK to get his fix not knowing of such lobang locally. Just saw on the website. You can get authentification done at LVMH. Eg. have the seller meet at LVMH to transact. You buy when it's authenticated so you got nothing to lose. I think that is the authorised repair centre. You might want to check out the authentification cost. Usually it's worth the effort because these private dealers are selling at a price that is much lower than the shops as they may have bought from Europe and get good tax rebate.

In terms of shop, you can go to Watches of Switzerland. I think they have outlets at Lucky plaza as well as Wisma Atrium. My 1st tag was bought from there maybe 15 yrs ago. 2 yrs back, I bought aquaracer from US duty free, they happened to have 35% discount. It cost less than 1k and around $400 cheaper than Singapore. It's a daily normal wear watch.

We are into watches and suggest that you look at this website.

Besides the higher end watches, they have tag as well. Look under private dealers garage. These are seller who usually buy cheaper from overseas and sell \"Brand New in Box\" in Singapore. But you might have to find ways to authenticate if it is real. I think there is a authorised repair shop for tag at Raffles city but I am not sure if they can help to authenticate. It's good to check the retail price in the shop and compare.

My Baby G watch from my Primary school days is still in very good working condition and my son likes to wear it (though it's pink).

Swatch has a collection for children, where beside the numbers, 1,2,3...etc, 5,10,15,20 etc is reflected too. I think they cost about $55.
I think that's the flik flak version. The hour and minute hands come in separate colours too to teach kids how to tell time. Taught my kids how to tell time with the flik flak watches when they were younger
