I don't mind to pay for gymnastics as PE lessons. How many PE teachers can teach gymnastics?
My dd had Gymnastics for PE in p1-p3 in her school. Yes, the PE teachers were qualified to teach. They actually identify the gym girls from there. We didn't pay extra. Then p4-p6 they do track/field n again they identify suitable girls fr there for school team.

When my p5 son went to beijing, we paid S$700, and for my daughter's trips to Europe, it was around S$1.8k to S$2k, so I assume it was 50%. I somehow think there is some provision for overseas trips subsidy IF singaporean. Bc my son's non-singaporean classmates pay more.

I think the non-Sg kids pay more because they don't have an Edusave fund to tap into. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am not refering to enrichment programs that are conducted by external parties. But I am refering to school CCAs eg. orchestral, badminton, etcโ€ฆ

I first heard about it from a relative recently, whose kidsโ€™ school charges P1 and P2 for CCA as itโ€™s not compulsory.

In our case, for P1 and P2, though CCA are not compulsory, it comes at no extra cost for the kids to join.

Meanwhile for overseas immersion, my P4 is joining a immersion trip to Nanjing. Total cost is around $1.5K. $200 from edusave and the rest, out of own pocket.

The overseas excursions depend very much on the tour operator and how the individual schools fund it. It may be subsidised or it may not be. The schools might have a special fund for it, or it might be funded by a rich alumni or the students might have to raise funds through special projects for the subsidy. There is no hard and fast rule.

I doubt that middle income families pay these for \"the glory of the school\". There is benefit for their kids to be part of the school's programme. Edusave can pay a part, but there will be some families that will exercise their option to not pay for these extra-curricula items.

Don't recall myself, during sch days have to pay for anything other than uniforms/shoes for uniform groups.
i think still have schools that way. eg. my boy in sec 2. Has not had to pay for anything, unlike in pri school. Their performing attire generally quite easy, so they just buy their own shirts/pants.

Yes, but probably not enough to cover everything that's why coaching fees are partially subsidised.

Depends on the CCA. If it requires external coaches, then you'll have to pay for the coaching fees.

Of course uniforms, costumes, sports equipment etc are a must as well.

Itโ€™s usually an once a year mass deduction from studentsโ€™ edusave accounts at the beginning of the year



My ddโ€™s school doesnโ€™t allow edusave for CCA. I guess too tedious for them to process ad hoc deduction of varying amount
