<![CDATA[forfeit the lessons or just finish it?]]>just curious, for parents who ever switched centres mid-term, ie already paid the full term fee, if halfway timing cant match or u found a better centre, do u still let the child finish the lessons from the 1st centre, then go to 2nd centre, or go both cos 2nd centre cant reserve the plc (ie the child meanwhile will hv eg 2 eng classes) or forfeit the 1st centre lessn, just go direct to 2nd centre?

going for two centres is a gd choice, just that i find it very tiring to duplicate n time consumg eg hv two eng lessons in the same week.

Well depends on how long such situation is going to last... if just another month or so then I will go for the lessons at both centres...

recently forfeited the ch compo class cos i didnt see any work after 5 lessons

Actually I’ve just forefeited 8 lessons out of 10 for the 1st centre cos DS is not learning from them whereby the 2nd centre is individualised attention.

Heartache over the money but is even more heartaching to see DS attend double dose and is stretched…

Also cos 1st centre is boring… dont want to kill DS’s interest in that subject

In fact, I have forefeited lots of fees and deposits over the years… Cos DS and myself have very strong negative opinions over some centres. Some of them are really lousy thus I dont want to waste time, effort, petrol, parking etc…

However, there were incidents where 1st centre is bearable and 2nd centre is willing to hold the position, I will finish the 1st one.

another questn, if the tuition happens during exam period and the subject tested is over, do u still send the kid to the class or forfeit that lessn to prepare for next exam subject?

Or at least I’ve not heard of any successful cases


In fact, some centers even asked for deposit & parents need to give 1 month notice before withdrawal or else deposit forfeited

Sit down and talk about your child's lack of progress 😛 Most likely will give up partial refund.


Otherwise, forfiet the lessons. I understand how money is of great value, but putting your child for mutliple lessons will scare your child and over-stretch him. He also might be confused with too many different teaching methods and cause even more damage to his studies. He'll learn the ultimate skill of all Singaporean kids, \"Brain Shut Off\".

Education would never be more expensive than ignorance.

If die die also cannot find another suitable timing, then perhaps can ask for other arrangement such as private lessons (some centers are willing to, for example swap 2-3 group lessons for 1 individual pte lesson), if no refund is possible.


But if the situation is because I found another centre, my first choice is to complete the term with current centre before switching to new centre. Unless i am very sure the new one is really really good, and the current one is totally a waste of time, then I will (albeit very reluctantly) forfeit the first and go for the second.

Would recommend to finish the entire term & then proceed with the new centre.

For me... if I have given up on a centre, I would forfeit. Consuming the lessons wastes time... and our kids don't have time.
