<![CDATA[LATEST:Tokyo hit by 8.9 mag earthquake and 10-m high tsunami]]>Though it's not new that Tokyo has been hit by earthquake again, but one that leads to a 10 metre high tsunami is quite shocking. Read that Tokyo Disneyland is also flooded! Can't imagine the number of casualties involved...so sad. 😞


First New Zealand, now Japan...just hope they can rebuild their country and their lives again. looks like our family vacation to Tokyo has to be shelved now.

Plutonium 239, if it gets into u, resides in d bones n liver - causes cancer related to bones n dis organ.

d only 'good thing' I can say about Plutonium 239 is dat it is a heavy isotope, so it does not carry far when airborne.
But dis bugger has a half life of 30,000 years if my recollection is correct. Wherever land it contaminates is unusable in many lifetimes.

If dis situation can be contained, d aftermath is just stay away fr Fukushima Daiichi n its immediate vicinity. Plutonium 239 has oredi leaked into d ground - dis stuff is very toxic n has a very long half life. Iodine 137 is very dangerous at d onset of exposure but coz' it has a relatively short half life, it does not pose a danger in d long term. Cesium, depending on which isotope, has a half life of between 2 to 30 years, but cesium is not as toxic as radioactive iodine or plutonium.

Cesium 133/134 has a half life of 2 yrs. Cesium 137’s half life is 30 years.
