<![CDATA[Tailor]]>Does anyone know of any good tailors that can make customised office wear?


after 3 deliveries my figure has gone off-track, and its kinda difficult to get clothes off the rack at departmental stores.

thinking of finding someone with good workmanship … may not be cheap but must be worth the money paid.

please recommend if you are already working with someone. TIA.

Sometime last year, I made a few shirts from a tailor at Bangkok located at Centara Grand... Went back a few times to make pants and shirts on different occasions. Sizes for the shirts varied on different occasions and decided not to let them do my shirts anymore. However I do like the way they made my pants, they have front half lining on the inner side and they sewed an additional layer at the bottom of my pants so that the pants fall nicely when I stand. For the price of not more than SGD80 per piece for wool pants... I think it's acceptable.

I now make my work shirts tailored at Men's Tradition at Peninsula (Level 3), after I followed some colleagues there back in March this year. Depending on the special requests to be done to the shirt and materials chosen, my shirts cost between SGD75 and 85 per piece. I wear a size 18 now and used to buy shirts that are SGD80 - SGD240 off the racks. The higher end ones are the few Raoul shirts I bought previously because of the details they have and the cutting. I still like the colors to my Raoul shirts but I have since outgrown them and the colors have also somewhat faded... Paying so much for one shirt and then not being able to wear them for one reason or another made me realise that I shouldn't be paying so much for shirts, as it is such a waste!

Anyway at work I just need to be presentable and do not have to look very polished and sharp, so I kind of accepted that the main stream tailors should work for me. Anyway I like Men's Tradition cos Daniel, the guy manning the shop, is proactive and will offer suggestions if you ask him. Since March to date, I have made a total of 18 shirts with him. Depending on the materials, some I like with backings (using diff materials) at the collar and cuffs, or maybe doing with matching button holes or button or with front or no front pockets etc. I like little details to my shirts and without being overly loud... I find the pricing acceptable as I can dictate how I like my shirts to be customised.

He makes his shirts/trousers at Maharaja’s as they were our wedding tailor.


They’ve moved now to Orchard Hotel Shopping Arcade which is above Tony Romas. Look for Bobbi or Armani…father and son family team, and better than CYC in my own opinion.

Else, if you’re going to HK, go to Jantzen. Once they have your measurements (and assuming you don’t grow - either way), you can just call/email them for new shirts. They will send via snail mail through their extensive network of SG clients and you’d usually get it within a week.
