<![CDATA[Uncommon Sports for kids]]>based on the topics on this forum, it seems that swimming is the most common sports around here in Singapore, followed by badminton, table tennis, tennis.


Has no body tried other sports? ie. billiards, water sking, etc…
I’ve seen one or two threads on rollerblading and bowling, but nothing on billiards or water sking or even water polo.

Will there be a pre-assessment before you accept a student? My child is interested in fencing however we worried that he might not be fit for this.

The league is inviting students aged seven to 18 to register for its upcoming season from August to October. Football fees are $875 a person for World Conference (14 - 18 years old) and National Conference (10 - 14 years old), and $250 for Flag Football (seven - 10 years old). Cheerleading fees are $850 (World Conference) and $350 (National Conference and Flag Football). No experience is required and participants will be placed in teams based on age.

She trains at Kallaing ice rink, but only after 10pm, on Mondays. She's a SISA member, so they managed to book private ice time for the speed skaters to train. It's a relatively new sport in Singapore (even though it has about 100 years of history~) It's a 5-in-1 sport consists of Swimming, Fencing, Running and Shooting, and horse-riding. Suppose to develop an \"all-rounded\" individual. Horse-riding is currently still unavailable in Singapore though.


Participants from this sport usually comes from a swimming and running background, and subsequently fencing and shooting. Currently, PA is offering fencing and shooting+running courses at some of their CCs at quite affordable rates. Any who has a copy of PA's Modern Living July-Sept issue pamphlet can refer to it.

And those who does not want to do the full 4-5 sports, there are actually competitions year round for Biathlon (Swim/Run), Triathlon (Swim/Run/Shoot) in the modern pentathlon format (points system).

There are a few 11-12 year old kids who are currently doing some serious training for the sport at a modern pentathlon sports club. Who knows they'll be the next upcoming Youth Olympians :rahrah:

Actually, it's the cost the troubles most parents. Some sports are too expensive and minority can take up as an enrichment or leisure. That's why many prefer swimming as it's relatively cheaper. For swimming, I would recommend you PM me and I will give you the link to my website. 😃

However, Taekwondo is also quite a fun sports too =DD It helps you to keep fit, and is good for self-defense too! I had taken that sports for around ten years already! Not dangerous at all. It's good to expose your kids to different activities nowadays.
