I have a friend who does figure skating, and she says it would be best not to get second hand skates, although it is cheaper than the new ones (I was planning to get new skates too). The whole Learn to skate course stretches until Figure 5. You can enquire about 1 to 1 lessons at the counter. They charge $32.10 for 15 minutes and it is recommended for classes to be 30 minutes so that will be $64.20 per lesson. My girl loves it.<br /><br />Accordingly to the chart in The Rink’s website, there are like 4 levels (and 5 lessons per level) before we can proceed on to the figure skating classes. Does anybody know if this is the only route to go?<br /><br />The sales at the counter doesnt seem to know much.</blockquote><br /><br />The other path is doing private lessons. For me i feel its better that way. I myself didn’t complete the Learn to skate program before moving to private lessons. I learnt much faster and my coach helped me kick off my bad habits.</p>

Kids were interested in ice skating and we actually went to the MBS rink previously and witnessed how wobbly the coaches skated...OMG (Disclaimer: of cos this is my personal opinion and may of course be biased since i am no professional)<br /><br /><br />and yes agree that you should always let your child learn to roller blade first. build the confidence plus improves the balance and motor. ice skating is much more costly....perhaps you try some good skate schools like inline fitness <a href="http://www.inlinefitness.org">http://www.inlinefitness.org</a> or <a href="http://www.skate-with-us.com">http://www.skate-with-us.com</a>, they are a specialised skate school by montessori for children. Got a recommendation from my ex-colleague previously and we took on a private class with them quite good. Once you get the hang of rollerblading, you can come back to ice skating with a better sense of balance. When you first try rollerblading, go to a grassy patch and try walking to get your sense of balance.
