i was at courts this afternoon in search for a cooker, and saw the taiyo pressure cooker you were talking about.

given my lifestyle requiremnts, the promoter suggest i do this:
1. fill pot with water the night before, cut all meat etc
2. in the morning, put in ingredients, turn on pressure cooker before I do my morning routine.'
3. within half hour, pressure would have built up in cooker. Once this happens, I can turn OFF cooker, and leave for work.
4. Upon return, just need to turn on for about 5 min to heat up.

Wonder if anyone had tried this?

The model number is PC50M. Apparently, it doesn’t need to go on the stove, so there is no need to monitor it. You just have to set the time and it will do the rest itself. It’s being sold at about $188 at NTUC and Courts, I think. Any feedback from anyone? I wouldn’t mind something which could tenderise my meat easily and effectively!

If you dun want to monitor the flame, use a thermal cooker instead. No regrets there.
Pressure cooker is good and fast but you still need to monitor the stove.

I am comtemplating between getting a slow cooker or pressure cooker, mainly for soup and stew.

I used to use a slow cooker - ie will put meat etc in slow cooker, leave for work, and return with soup/stew ready to be served.

I have heard that a pressure cooker is even better, and retains a much better flavour in the food. I read that pressure cooker cooks really fast, but does it serve my purpose? Or is a slow cooker still a better option? Because I return home quite late from work, and really do not want to spend too much time before dinner can be served.

It gives u a choice when to use which one. The smaller one is like a frying pan with a higher sides, this one 1 used it to make stew. The much larger, stock pot size, i used that to make soup. With only 1 cover, i can only pressure cook one at a time. The other pot if i am using, i just cover with a another normal pot cover.

It really shortens the time needed to tenderise tough cuts of meat. So far i have used it for cantonese porridge (the thick and smooth kind), red bean soup, soy sauce pork, chicken curries and soups.


I have the WMF pots. Come in 2 sizes and 1 cover. Cleaning is easy to me. Just need to remove the handle and rubber seal will do. Parts easily available. The rubber seals usually needs to be replaced every 1-2 years depending how often u cook.

Hi I use pressure cooker at least 3 or 4 times a wk. Bought my pc for $199. Really well spent. My mum feels that the taste is better than thermal pot. The things I like abt pc - do not have to wake up early to boil my soup or watch the stove. Really super fast for making soup and stew. Hv not really tried to cook other dishes though. I am not a good cook or the adventurous type.

Hi, what brand are u using? I am still pondering whether to get one as I seldom cook.....I only experiment cooking in weekends...
