Can anyone recommend a good course/school for beginners? I’d love to learn how to decorate cakes so I can make my own birthday cakes!<br /><br /><br />I heard about Bake It Yourself and Creative Culinaire. Any feedback on these 2 schools?<br /><br />Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!</p>

That was before my daughter was born and when fees were lower. The teachers/ chefs there are very meticulous and the recipe packs given are quite idiot proof. Nowadays I’m too busy on weekends to attend classes.<br /><br /><br />Currently I refer to cookbooks that are highly recommended on Amazon, like Dorie Greenspan’s books. these are the western cakes of course. I’m on the prowl for detailed cookbooks for local desserts.</p>

No point just sitting there to watch, then bring home a recipe. It’s as good as learning from books, TV or internet!<br /><br />Will check Phoon Huat too. The cc near my place has some baking classes but they’re not the type I’m looking for. My friend and I are keen to learn baking but more importantly, decorating. I’ve made cupcakes and they’re very tasty but I’m bad at decorating them. Just simple icing and I can’t seem to spread it properly. Always looks messy! Not like those pretty ones sold online or at shops.</p>
