No, it's because they prioritise \"beauty\" over convenience! And many people do the same when they do their own renovations. IDs will always ask them to do that as they say it looks nicer (and they also get paid more).
Think \"aesthetics\" the right term for this ya but agree. But not all IDs do this. When I renovated our before, ID has good recommendations but most are \"minimalist\" type which doesnt suit my preference bcause i like it more to have all i need than aesthetics. So had to tell them one by one what i want which was fine with them. I also asked them why most of their suggestions were minimalist type and they said due to most youngsters who renovated their homes wanted that kind of aesthetic.

That's one of the reasons (the other is cost) why we refused to conceal anything in our flat when we moved in - as it ages, at least most things can be accessed without ripping out walls and ceilings if anything needs fixing.

Janet , DIY laundry is cheap - i am a regular . travel clothes, bedsheets, normal sheer curtains etc
But i think black out ones are really chunky n heavy ...maybe only ONE piece can go into ONE DIY machine , after that may still need time to iron lei..quite a lot of manual work involve vs normal curtain if DIY wash ourselves for blackout...

Yeah I have been having complete black out curtains ever since kid was born. It helps us sleep so much better, whether for naps or for night time sleep.

Today I just learnt that there are noise-absorption curtains too - velvet type of material.

clear balcony glass doors ; very near to opp block- Night time can see thru most as all units turn on the ceiling lights

I thought you were only concerned about the glare. Privacy is a different issue, though there is really no need for much privacy in the service balcony, I would think. Perforated blinds may cut down the airflow quite a bit.
afternoon glare can be quite frustrating. I did think of the blinds cutting down the air flow. however the service yards here are rather close to those opposite. the Indian guy and his wife have a tendency to smoke there at night. not used to it when I hang my laundry.

extension of the kitchen where there is a space for washing machine and laundry rack.
in the older hdb flats, the corner of the kitchen would be where the washing machine/dryer are placed.
