<![CDATA[Does CCA Grade counts as L1R5 or Bonus point?]]>Hi guys, so my question is does CCA Grade counts as L1R5 or Bonus point?


My son heard his teacher saying that her O’level results was thanks to her CCA Grade (A1), as most of her subjects were within C5 range.
She added that because of this, that’s minus 4 points by CCA Grade. (Replace C5 Subject to CCA Grade A1)

Is it true?

L1R5 is basically used for JC admissions.

L1 Refers specifically to English Langauge
R5 Refers to Relevent 5 subjects.
1 must be Mathematics (Emaths/Amaths/POA)
1 must be Science (Physics/Chem/Bio/Combined Science)
1 must be humanities (Geography/History/Lit./Economics/Combined Humans)
Plus two other subjects (Best scoring subjects)

Points of these 6 subejcts will be added up as L1R5. Bonus Points like CCA, Leadership, Higher Mother Tongue will be used to deduct from the sum of the 6 subjects.

L1R5 - 20 points
Bonus Points - Max 6 points
Therefore, effective L1R5 14 points.
Erm leadership is included in the CCA grade so the maximum bonus for cca(A1/A2) is 2 points.Hmtl(D7 and above) is 2 points and another 2 points is for students opting for language elective programme in certain JCs.(eg.CLEP,MLEP).Affiliation to certain JCs also awards student with 2 points and students getting a pass in their third language is also awarded a 2 points.But all in all,you're right,each student is entitles to a max. of 6 bonus points for JCs.

No, it does not count into the L1R5 but rather is considered bonus point. And CCA A1 only gives a bonus point of 2 as of now. I have no idea though how the system was like during the teacher's time. So what she said might be true.. or not.
