“Song Hua Jiang” is the name of a major river in Jilin province, northeast China where dog meat is a popular cuisine among the inhabitants.

Under the law, meat can only be imported from AVA and this means that the restaurant may be slaughtering DOGS in Singapore on its own.

Anyone caught illegally slaughtering animals for human consumption or importing dog meat could be fined up to S$10,000 and jailed up to 12 months.

The relentless influx of immigrants from mainland China has provided a ready market for dog meat in Singapore as it is highly unlikely that Singaporeans will touch the ‘exotic’ meat.

In an interview with National Geographic magazine in January 2010, PAP de facto leader Lee Kuan Yew said it’s a good thing that Singapore is welcoming so many Chinese immigrants (from China) as they are ‘harder-driving’ and ‘harder-striving’ than Singaporeans.

1. AVA has confirmed that the meat used was pork
no further actions mentioned
2. the PRC owner said business has increased instead so he is staying put and not leaving town :roll:
3. CASE said if customers felt they have been misled by the adv, they an take the restaurant to task or go through CASE to claim for misrepresentation.
4. 2 netizens mentioned that when the case was reported, they called up the restaurants posing as customers to ask if they serve dog meat and the staff told them they do and it is legal in Singapore to serve dog meat :yikes: :evil:
(as quoted in the papers)
5. There was doubt as to the actual samples take for testing might have been switched to pork but of course it was being denied

SEVEN children from Pat's Schoolhouse have been hospitalised for food poisoning and another 211 children and seven teachers are ill with related symptoms.

They fell ill after eating food from caterer Mum's Kitchen Catering, whose licence has been temporarily suspended by the National Environmental Agency pending the outcome of the investigations.

NEA and the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a joint press release on Thursday that the catering company had been fined for lapses in a food poisoning incident in December last year (2010), when 35 people attending a company function came down with diarrhoea and started vomitting.

In this case, the children and teachers from six of the group's 14 centres have come down with symptoms such as diarrhoea, vomitting and fever.

The six centres are in Halifax Road, Lim Ah Pin Rd, Whitley Road, Claymore Road, Mount Emily and Jalan Ulu Siglap.

The food served in Pat's Schoolhouse, which has 2,000 children ranging from infants to six-year-olds across its 14 centres, is centrally prepared by Mum's Kitchen Catering. Those affected by the food poisoning were aged two to six.

i am also wondering on the testing, the result shouldnt be taking this long right? any update on this?

goreng pisang (banana fritters) were fried in a big pot of oil...ever wonder why the fritters are still so crunchy & crispy even after leaving out in the open for so long?

cos the locals used empty plastic bottles as part of the ingredients to cook the fritters.

oh yes, this has been circulating for quite some time already
the version I heard was they use drinking straws - one bunch a time :yikes:

recently a PRC hotpot restaurant was in the news because one of the staff took shots of the soup being recooked and recycled again and the unhygienic method of food preparation and posted them in Stomp (I think). Upon interview, the lady boss said that it was not true at all and that the staff was dismissed by her so he took revenge by posting untrue pictures of her restaurant.

I won't be surprised if it really happened though after reading so many horror stories of such restaurants. In China, some of these restaurants throw in opium/drugs so the customers will develop a yearn for it and keep going back every week :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

i personally came across a buffet steamboat shop along beach road; saw what the staff did. he took the leftovers (uncooked) food stuff from a table (customers left liao) & pour back onto the buffet table where all the varieties are, meaning he mixed the so called uncooked food together with the rest. :faint: unknowing people will just take as if its new, fresh out from the fridge. :sick:

god knows if the previous \"owners\" spit into their food or not. :yikes:

after seeing this, i walked away. :siam: and confirmed its own by chinese nationals. even the boss. yes becos all spoke with a china accent.
