yesterday was the 2nd time i had used this after being away for a while and was a bit uncomfortable cos' of the jam + bad driving here. so i was very very :dancing: :dancing: :dancing: when i saw clear markings on the road.

okay, another question to all, what do you think it means when a driver flashes his light at you once or twice when you are doing the following:

1) when you are trying to cut into another lane

2) when you are waiting for an opportunity to move onto the road from the carpark, your house etc.

Remember the case of an ambulance which crashed into a speeding car at the junction even though the traffic lights were in the ambulance's favour?

(2) Get outta my way! I'm a bad driver! (to be used when I'm trying to switch lanes)
(3) You go first (to be used when I dunno who is supposed to turn first)
(4) #$%%^& you almost killed me! (self-explanatory)

i think i have better luck waving a placard out of the window to indicate my intentions.

actually come to think of it, maybe i should make some placards and everytime, i want to give way, i just stick one that says \"i am giving way\" etc out of the window. :lol:

i had pointed out this problem to the traffic police some years ago but there was no reply and the learner's handbook has nothing on this as well.
That's the thing. In some overseas countries, when you flash your lights it means you're giving way to them. In the Singapore context however, people flash their lights to say Don't come in. As it's better to err on caution, I'd rather take flashing of lights to mean don't come in, just in case the car speeds up.

It's similar to how when you want to filter lanes, you put on your indicator signal. If the path's clear, the car in the other lane should slow down to allow you in. But in Singapore, some drivers will speed up just to stop you from coming in. Better to practise defensive driving.

Sometimes, it's \"watch out speed-trap!\"

Actually, it makes more sense your way - flash to give way, coz if we are trying to be aggro, then we can always sound the horn right?

It is one of the few last roundabouts left. I find it fun looking out for the cars and getting into the lanes and when one makes a wrong turn, can just go around to get back. Of course exiting the roundabout is sometimes dangerous because of reckess driver, but I find it fun watching the behaviour of drivers, it takes the mundane off driving on SG roads.


Also the brief unstructureness is what I enjoy most in the roundabout. I have not seen the newly drawn lines yet albeit I was there yesterday but I hope it does not take the fun out of driving. πŸ˜‰
