Low crime rates does not mean no crime. There are so many perverts out there, who knows what will happen…

There was a local case not long ago. A girl’s parents left her in the public library and went shopping. The library closed, the father asked the library staff about the child. The staff was sure there’s no one in the library. But later was found that the child was in the library.

I don’t know why the staff did not see the child in the library before closing BUT why the parents leave their child in the library alone in the first place? I think the child is below 10yrs old.

If the parents so trusting of the environment and the child’s ability to fend for herself, why only return to the library after closing hours?

Have read of a quite a few cases in the news, mostly in the US. In some cases, the parent was charged but in the end acquitted.

Some of the cases really, when you read it, haiz. A few cases were a result of a change in routine. Eg, the father having to drop the kid off at daycare instead of the mother who usually does it. Some actually mentioned that the backward facing child seat is also a factor. As the seat is facing backwards, the driver cannot see the reflection of the kid in the rear mirror and oft times, we go into auto pilot when going about our daily lives, as such a kid can be forgotten especially if the kid falls asleep and makes no noise.
