Instead, its the coach catching you before you fall down. So.. Why did your student still fall down?

#coachlogic
\"Got fall down meh? who? where? how many times?\"
#coachlogic
\"Student fell down because they are not following instructions\". Not because the coach was distracted while giving out pamplets to passer-bys during lesson.
#coachlogic
\"Falling down in front is not considered falling down. Only falling down behind is.\" ~ geez. Slapping you with my right hand is not slapping you. only slapping you with my left hand is considered

Claim #2: As long as you can walk, you can skate. Guaranteed.
Coach asked us to pay another $250 for 4 private lessons for our 3.5yr old son. This is on top of the $600 guaranteed package. This is prepare the child to eventually join for the group lessons and we think it is fair. After 4 lessons and a lack of progress, we were told to pay another $150 for another 2 lessons. We were prepared to pay if this is the end but coach said that we will have to keep paying until he is ready.

#coachlogic
\"You are supposed to keep throwing in money if you want to learn\" ($75/45mins is more expensive than private piano lessons)
#coachlogic
\"Nowadays you easily have to pay $3,000 for driving lessons. Cannot guarantee you pass somemore\"
#Coachlogic
\"Some of my student paid more than $10k for skating lessons. This is a lifelong skill you know?\"

Claim #3: Which school can guarantee you can graduate? I can
Background: but there was no mention on how long it will take.

#Coachlogic
\"Some people take 2 months. Some people take 6 years. You just keep coming. Sure know how to skate one.

Claim #4: The process of teaching must not treat everyone the same. It must be tailored to each individual's ability to learn

Question: There are 6 students of different age and differnt progress at any 1 lesson. Four of them are chlidren lesser than the age of 12. The coach gives instrx to one and then moves away to another rotating between the 6. How can the coach then ensure the \"skating without falling ~ because i am there to catch you\"?

Claim #5: Parents were told to be auxillary instructors
#coachlogic: After i give you the instruction, you stay here and teach your children.
#coachlogic: \"I am imparting skills so you can teach other people in future and i did not charge you a single cent for it\". Geez. I pay you to teach my child, not pay you to learn how to be a coach.
#coachlogic: \"I give you softcones. you just let him walk figure of 8 around it 1000 times. All my drills need to practise 1000 times. Then walks off. If the kid falls down. Its your fault.

Claim #6: Family should learn to skate together.
Background: Since day 1, he has been pestering the rest of the family to join in. Question: \"If the parents took the lessons, how are we going to be auxillary instructors?\"

#coachlogic: Then you do not have to be auxillary instructors. The whole learning process will just take longer. ~ Geez. So i double my payment of fees to slow down my speed of learning?

Claim #7: \"Progress is slow because you never practise at home. Which school dont have homework to do?\"

Rebuttal: Since day 1, he has never told us what to practise at home nor did he tell us we need to practise at home. My reply to him was \"Which school's students do homework without the teacher telling them which homework to do?\"

Claim #8: I make more money from group lessons than private lessons! You think i want to give you private lessons ah?

Rebuttal: $600/16 group lessons is $37.50 per lesson. There was 6 person per class of 90minutes but at least 2 were not charged cos they are \"still taking lessons after 2 years\". That leaves $150 /90 minutes vs private lessons of $75/45 minutes for private lessons. Why would taking group lessons be more accretive?

Grouse: Location
Location is at the children's playground next to Marine Parade Macdonalds.
~ On the 1st lesson, there was lots of people constructing temporary marquees for a trade fair. Bolts and hammers lying around.
~ On the 2nd-4th lesson, trade fair was ongoing. Students had to avoid the pedestrians whom were either shopping or walking by
~ On the 5th lesson, the food stall started. There was a pot of hot boiling oil just next to the playground

After all the crap that the coach fed me, we decided to walk away from the lessons.

Before we took up the lesson, we tried to google on reviews for this coach but unfortunately there was none to be done. I am sharing my experience so that more will not fall prey to the inflated claims.

tbl12345

Reply to All About Inline Skating/Roller Blading on Sat, 22 Nov 2014 05:49:30 GMT

Thank you for sharing your first-hand experiences.
