btw snowball here's another tip for you get a small towel/hankerchief and wet it a bit then place in the refrigerator(not the freezer pls) after it gets really cold take it out and place it on the swollen eyes and leave it there until it is not cold anymore and then wash it and place it back into the refrigerator repeat the process until the swelling eases. hope that helps! this helped me a lot

I sent my child to a doctor yesterday and the doctor wanted to prescribe Augmentin and I told him about these reports and he said there was nothing from MOH on this matter yet to refrain from prescribing Augmentin. In any case, he must have detected the paranoia on my face and decided to prescribe another antibiotics. :lol:

Plastics over time, tend to get scratches and change in colour. Something must have changed over time. Whatever these components that leak out are within safety limits (no harm to humans). Which started this question initially on why there should be a limit for plasticiser? A limit was set because there bound to be some coming from normal preparation. Any content that is beyond the limit means that there is an intention to ADD plasticier into the medication or food. That is when IT IS NOT CORRECT.

There is even reports of iron seeping into our food if we use cast iron pots. And that is well established long time ago. Then the use of Teflon in our non sticks and all…

But I thought as long as the liquid is at room temperature, the plastic should not react right? I've bought stainless waterbottle for my kids, but at the moment they are still using plastic coloured ones. I only pour room temperature water into the bottles, it should be ok right?

Yup, I bought one, 5 levels one. I tried to use it when taboa stuff from hawker stalls on days that I do not cook. It's also environmental friendly.

But when eat out, no choice......know that plastic too prevelant. So I just try to do what I can.......so that body can rest and flush as much as possible.

So the acceptable level is to cater for the chemical seeping from the bottle to the meds during production, transportation, storage, etc?

I've stopped using microwave. I even stop using the plastic steamer.......But when eating out, plastic is still used to contain hot food.......

The Augmentin syrup used in Taiwan is not the same preparation used in Singapore. The product involved is Augmentin ES powder for oral suspension (600mg/5ml). No doubt this product is registered in Singapore, but it has not be taken into Singapore for the last 10 years. The Augmentin we are using in Singapore is Augmentin for Oral suspension in 228mg/5ml or 457mg/5ml.


The Augmentin in Taiwan no doubt has DIDP, it is within the limits stated by the US and European authorities.

There are 2 brands of antibiotic for kids...one is Augmentin...can't remember the other one. Both are in same 'family'. GP sure to prescribe this if my kids have throat infection.

If I remember correctly, there is also the tablet form for adult right? I think I remember taking this when I got throat infection while still breastfeeding my kid. The doc said it is a mild antibiotics and safe for breastfeeding mum.
