Although I do not find her overweight but somehow she’s the heaviest girl in her class at 41 to 42kg. She eats 2 plates of rice at recess everyday & doesn’t exercise at all. Probably that accounts for her weight increase? She enjoys wide variety of food and likes rice & koka noodles especially. She doesn’t drink soft drinks or consume excessive chocolate/sweets so I don’t think it’s due to sugar intake. Hardly consume fast food or fried food either.

I guess the advice to put on weight is to eat more rice or noodles. And have more frequent meals. Besides breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea break, dinner, drink milk at least twice or thrice a day.

My p1 dd is much lighter compares to her sister because she’s rather selective with her food & prefers steam dishes and porridge only. She’s between 28 to 29 kg

I know how concerned you mustbe! Is your child’s doctor concerned? My P1 son is also underweight - 5-10th percentile. But doc is not concerned because my side of the family is also skinny. My bro can eat a cow each day and will still be skin and bones. Doc said you can’t run away from your genes! My doc thinks parents in general should be more worried about obesity and less about whether they are underweight. Maybe bring her for a health check and seek your doc’s advice. In the meantime, just make sure she has access to healthy food.

It’s hard to see our children with their ribs sticking out, especially when they were chubby babies, but don’t worry so much, ok? If she’s eating well, she probably just has model genes!

Most likely, she has good genes and high metabolic rate. It’s so much better to be underweight than overweight. Some children started putting on weight when they reached puberty. What is the weight of your dd, compared to her height?
