Sometimes they will use right hand to eat or do certain things but writing will always be left. There are certain inconvenience when it comes to writing cos I am right handed so I need to sit opposite him to teach him writing. And when the 2 DS were younger they will have some problem to recognise and write d and b, p and q. Please do not try to correct her like the old folks did, just let her brain develop the way it is. I was told by a neurologist.

bezzlay

Reply to Left-handed: 3.5yrs old - how to train? on Thu, 08 Sep 2011 04:05:27 GMT

Hi all,

Am coming back after busy with my newborn :).

Am very appreciated with all your advises n experiences. I just matter of factly, took the spoon from his left hand and transferred it to his right. After a few times, he got the message and learnt to use his right hand. This also applied when he used his left hand to hold a pencil. There was no protests etc cos I didn't make a fuss over it. Other than eating and writing, I'm not bothered which hand he used. However, I do notice that once he's used to holding spoon and pen in his right hand, it become of habit to hold other things with the same hand. I was \"lucky\" to have caught him young cos DH and some of his family members are left-handed and I can see how inconvenient it has been for them including DH.
