These are not so tough for very young kids because if they are gifted in Math, they can do the sums with no difficulty. <br /><br />But for the languages and sciences, it is tougher for the very young because it involves practical work and essay writing. <br />I guess at 12, he should be able to handle that, but still, it is amazing. Because some JC2 students struggle with triple science and he just ace them so easily at his age!<br />But medicine course in NUS is not easy, hopefully he has the maturity to take that, cos it is not just about academic excellence already.<br />They have attachments, have to do shifts, sometimes cannot sleep for many hours straight. Have to face cadavers, and in the hospital attachments, be in touch with many emotionally charged situations, like working to save someone for many many hours only to have the person pass away.<br />Even though as a student you need not be the one to break the news to the family, but you still have to quickly set that aside and continue with the next patient, and your other duties, all these within the space of a single shift.</p>
