I feel so guilty for seemingly 'spoiling' my kids... see, my gal hates veg and always pick them out. I allow her to pick them out so that she'll finish up the rest of the food. .

me too..my boy picks out anything that is green colour from his lunch and dinner even when it is hidden in his favourite fried egg. The only veg he eats are those that are not green in colour like corn and carrots...

O dear,

I don't prefer to re-heat stuff. She loves meat and fruits and will eat them easily. Yeah, I know veg is important to them...arghh... luckily, she eats broccolie on and off :roll: .

As for my son (4 yrs old then), he used to prefer milk more than normal food. He doesn't like food most of the time. I have to 'cold-turkey' him for a while to make him give up more milk to eat more normal food. Now he feeds better. Only thing: he only likes apple and won't try other fruits.

I confess, I sometimes unthinking ask them what they want to eat, obviously knowing they don't know what to eat since they're still so young. And giving them the chance to reject food too...*sigh Dumb... :stupid: I've to stopped voicing out my thots to them...

My triplets nv fight with each other. They have fun to have partners to play with each other.

But they like to complaints over little little thingy. Sometimes it really drives me crazy!! :stupid: Been asking them to stop. But only a short while then starts again...

Sometimes I juz ignore their slight complaints. It works. But sometimes they can keep repeating on and on till I response to them...

Same thing with my girl.

She’ll finish about half of her dinner and tell me she’s full. Then half hour later, tell me she’s very hungry and wants sandwich, biscuits, blah blah blah…

Now, I tell her "If you finish all your dinner and tell me you are hungry later, I will let you eat some more. But if you don’t finish your dinner, I will not let you have any food (but she’ll still get her bedtime milk lah)."

Works like magic

BTW the portion I give her for dinner is reasonable for her age hor…

Hi Funz,

my boy also like that. he can choose not to eat anything, but would ask for other food. and keep saying 'hungry hungry. tell him hungry then finish up what is prepare for him, then he diam diam, but would whine again. if whining and dun give the ‘other food’, wa, can expect crying, stomping, throw bang things, etc for at least 45 mins. can even throw favourite toys hor.

try to reason? dun help. :x

only method? wat until the throwng tantrum stop (after 45 mins), so in between, have to bear with the nonsense.

haha. been there done that. she is 6yrs old oredi. I have gone thru the phase where she doesn't want to eat at all when she was about 3yrs old. Yup did the your choice, it's either this or go hungry until the next meal time. And no snacking other then the teabreak.

Now she is just being plain irritating. Cos when I tell her you will eat whatever is being served and you will finish them. She will negotiate and whine but eat up sometimes even asking for 2nds.

Ahmih, the kids are more resilient than we think You may remember from your child-rearing books that they regularize food intake over a few days.

I agree with daisyt...make them eat up ALL on their plate or nothing. My method to this is to take all away and then re-heat to serve once again :idea: (only problem is when MIL heard about it, complain to my DH about the 'hong' or wind in re-heated food ) Hehe, good thing he agrees with me and this giving them the same food is HIS idea

I feel that if the main meal is food, to give milk at the usual timing should be fine but don't make her substitute milk with food to fill her tummy.

Another suggestion, never ask the kids what they want to eat for each meal. They eat what you prepare or what you buy.

btw, has anyone tried the UK Super Nanny website for tips to 'counter' these 'habits' and 'traits' from kids? Any stories to share?

One of the problems I have with my 4 yr old son (jus resolve recently), was he refuses to poo in potty or toilet. He was toilet trained alrdy and doesn't wear diaper at nite too (bedwetting on and off) but simpily refuse to poo unless he wears a diaper! :x such a waste of diaper... and since my gal is still wearing diaper for nite, he lagi refuses to give it up.

We had a 'standoff' for days and he finally relented. Glad he pulled through without too much 'damage'...

My daughter loves to antagonise him and so you can imagine...how noisy my house can be when they can't stop bickering...

haha... my set of kids are the same too. :lol: a complete switch of characters. My boy ultra whingy, a mischieve word from my gal makes him cry. And my gal like 'big boss', who doesn't take 'no' for an answer and will 'hantam' you before you finish the 'o'... and she enjoys antagonising her brother too. :celebrate:

My boy has a taste for his thumb, nails and 'black gold' too. *eeee..... but, no taste for food. He is a true blue picky eater. Can't get anything into his mouth if he takes a look and decides he doesn't like it. He hardly trys any new food even though we offer them. Sometimes I really wonder if he got sensory sensitivity issue. My gal is more adventurous and interested in food, like me, everything must try at least once. :roll:

Since we are on the shit story…my mum recounted one of my own when I was not quite a tot.

Was crawling around at my gramps’ place apparently, and thought I saw "durian" (apparently, could talk before I walked) and immediately made a bee line for it; grabbed it -----was about to put in my mouth…till my mum (sharp-eyed as ever) sailed from across the room to stop me in time!

Never quite saw durians in the same light ever again!
