There is a great difference between the school fess of ACSI (IP or Express) and ACS Barker. ACS Barker is normal school fees like all govt schools. ACSI is independent school fees.

CCA

ACSI 2 CCAs policy is only for Y1 to Y4 (IP/Express). One of the CCA must be a uniform group. Only exception for Band members who take on 1 CCA only. Y5/Y6 are not required to take 2 CCA.

ACS Barker requires only 1 CCA.

ACSI (irregardless if transfer fr ACS Barker or MGS in Yr 5) complies with 2 CCAs, no exception unless medical certification against UG.

There’s only Express & IP/IB & not other (whether NA or technical) at ACSI. If a student fr Barker NA/ Technical did well enuf to join ACSI, will hv to comply with 2 CCAs. No exception exception for valid medical excuse

How about sec 4 ACSI express stream students ? Are they also affliated to ACJC to do a-level, if they decide not to pursue ib route in ACSI in year 5 and 6, after taken their o level, at ACSI ?

FYI, both students fr Barker & ACSI Express hv equal opportunities if they perform well to be considered for IB. I’ve seen quite a number of students switch to ACSI fr Barker when they perform well in Yr 1. Possible reasons are aspiration to embrace the ACSI culture. These are perceptions tho.

Do note :-

Students at ACSI (Express or IP/IB) are expected to do at least 2 CCAs (compulsory). One has to be a uniform grp & the other any choice of child subj to vacancies. This is not DSA but normal CCAs.

The school believes in healthy & fit both intellectually & physically besides personal choice & involvement with spiritual devpt. The sch hv strong PSG & entire school teaching & mgt staff are constantly keeping watch over stidents’ emotional well-being.

apart from substantial School fees differences per month, between ACSI (Express stream) vs. ACS Barker Sec (Express stream), where both lead to common 4 years' GCE O level,

perhaps you can download some of their sample past years' Upper Sec (3 and 4) SA1 mid-year and SA2 Sec 3 year-end or Prelim Sec 4 exam papers, compare the difference(s) between them, gauge for yourself : see which school set harder, more difficult or higher standard, Maths / Science / Humanities subjects exam papers, particularly those subjects that form your L1R5 score ?

After compare the difference, u should be able to tell, is it

a) not much difference,

b) there is a difference for certain subjects, where one school is harder than the other, for subject ...

Hi, I'm not familiar with both schools but I have heard good (discipline-wise) reviews with regards to Acsi. You may notice that the textbook lists (HMT, D&T, F&CE...) for Express stream are different in both schools?

There shld be no fees difference for Express track but the school culture, spirit & the ease/familiarity for yr child focus in studies & adjustments.

Assuming u choose ACS Barker & yr child did well enuf to qualify for & aspire to do the IB track then there will be adjustments & fees for IB will be different. If child begins Yr 1 in ACSI Express stream fees shld be same as ACS Barker.

Do note u need to consider yr child’s temperament & affinity for project work (both team & individual contributions). If yr child prefers academic & thrive well with academic & does not prefer or unable to juggle lots of project work independently (s’times submission are very close together), then I suggest you consider carefully so that yr child do not feel stressed or felt forced into sth he does not enjoy & will not cope.

Believe me, it is impt to let yr child choose according to temperament & ability w/o which both u & son will hv a lot of struggles. I’ve seen kids not able to adjust & parents blame the school whilst other boys thrive well.

There is a difference in school fees between ACS independent and ACS Barker. ACS Independent charges independent school fees, regardless of whether you're in Express or IB. $320 for Express and $340 for IB iirc. ACS Barker is govt-aided and charges fees accordingly.
