(easier to see, but quite a number to draw)</blockquote></blockquote>Hi There,<br /><br />Total no. of fruits bought  =  47 + 38 = 85<br /><br />Since 85 fruits have been bought, some children have bought more than one fruit.<br /><br />Therefore the no. of students who have bought more than one fruit is:<br /><br />85 - 59  =  26<br /><br />Cos there are 26 \"extra\" fruits when you make comparison to when each student has one fruit. <br />Thus we can conclude that 26 of them have bought both an apple and a pear.
