Just a very quick trip - 1.5 days in SR then another 1.5 days in Phnom Penh. The bus journey between those 2 cities took 7 hrs, so that was essentially another day! I think it’s only "worth" seeing if you like history and culture, and don’t mind it being less-developed. We enjoyed seeing Angkor Wat etc, but my kids are teens. Younger kids will probably be bored, and some of the sights, like the killing fields, may be too gory. Our tour was a history and culture tour, so maybe other tours might include other things more suited to younger kids?

Yup, even the tuktuk drivers have an agreed price among them for trips, such as from the town area to Angkor. They don't spoil market by charging lower prices, so it was hard for us to bargain. We asked around and all of them were just as expensive. I guess it's good for them but bad for us tourists. :faint:

Many of the Cambodians are very poor, though. You'll see if you go there. Many of the drivers and tour guides are not from Siem Reap but people from other provinces who go there to work. Just want to add that some of the temples in Angkor Wat have rather steep steps and are not that easy to climb. However, if you really want to explore the place and get the most out of your experience, you have to do some climbing together. In this respect, parents who have young kids in tow may lose out a bit.
