According to Straits Times, the fire is likely to be caused by a lantern that a 5 yrs old girl was playing on her bed. Her father had left her alone with a lighted lantern and went to take a bath.

The family of 4 stayed in a room and rented out the other room to 4 tenants. 5 person suffered burns, and from the photo on the papers, the whole flat is totally burned out.

It could very well be wife bathing while husband waiting and smoking on bed and fell asleep and started the fire. Then shift blame to child.

It is also dangerous as there as so many plants around and fire can be started so easily. The worst is the parents let them do so. The poor cleaners got a hard time scrapping off the harden wax the next morning. Some parents need to be educated on what the children should not do.

no sense of danger, let the daughter play lighted up lantern with candle flame in the bedroom somemore, after that can still go toilet to bathe ...
the 5-yr old daughter is a Down's syndrome child..
mother busy denying they own business initially but later confessed & insisted business no good/didnt make money etc and the beds was for her child's teacher from China etc (4 bed= 4 teachers???) and that her husband did not run out without alerting the neighbours of the fire...
