Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but just like to share with you a comics blog done up by my P5 son which your children or even yourself might be interested in as it covers a wide range of educational topics like Social Studies, Science etc.

Hi all

Some of you have seen my other posting to share my son's comic site.

He has just created a new comic that covers a short but interesting snippet of how the Japanese used bicycles to attack Singapore in WWII which is an easy but very informative way to learn about the history of Singapore and the strategies of war used by the Japanese then.

I think this is a pretty good comic and rather educatinal, so I want to share with you and your children, and hope you benefit from it πŸ™‚

Lim Kiat Comicals has just released a few new posts.

One of them is on Maria Hertogh who is famously known for causing the Maria Hertogh Riot which happened in the 1950s in Singapore.

In the riot, 8 people were killed and 173 were injured.

Who is Maria Hertogh. What is her story? How did the riot arise because of her?

Haha, no lah, Daddy and Mummy are just normal people, who have even failed their exams in the past before! :oops:

I really have no idea how come our son is able to come up with some of the humorous ideas in his comics, but I guess his love for reading Roald Dahl's books might be a contributing factor? Roald Dahl has such a wicked sense of humour πŸ™‚

But as the years went by, I realised the wisdom of his comment. Our children become like us. Yes, there are exceptions. But by and large, we are the templates. I know some children who curse a lot at a young age, and instantly know what kind of parents they have (and I guessed right!). Hey poppy15,

My son used Adobe Illustrator to draw his comics. Sometimes he will draw his ideas on paper first, then draw them on the computer.

To draw his comics, I think this is his typical workflow:-
1) first, he decides on a topic he wants to draw (e.g. about World War II)
2) second, he does a Google search to get the relevant information
3) third, he sits at his desk to think of how to weave the information he has gathered to incorporate his regular repertoire of characters he has created into a storyline
4) draws the comic using Adobe Illustrator
5) Uploads the comic and adds in the words

Can be quite time-consuming and eats into time he can use to do homework or study, but he truly enjoys it, so we let him lor πŸ™‚

Wow, what a coincidence, our kids are both P5 and both like to draw the same things!

You can show your girl my son's Angry Bird drawings at this facebook page. His Angry Bird drawings are a 'mutated version' though, he created his own versions such a \"Purists\", \"Mighty Eagles\" and sorta incorporated the Pokemon 'evolution' cycle into it as well!

You have any of your daughter's Angry Birds or Pokemon drawings to share too? I love to look at kids drawings, mine or other kids. Looking at them really brightens my day after a hard day's work πŸ™‚

oh yah, my son hardly studies and spends most of his time watching Youtube, Facebooking or drawing. Not much homework for him, except Chinese, which takes him like HOURS just to finish one δΉ ε­— @.@

my son is interested in stickmen doodling too. but he only does his 'comic-strip' on paper as i limit his computer usage.

My son started his comic drawing as a hobby. Actually he has a habit to doodle since young; his Chinese textbook are full of doodles because he's always daydreaming during Chinese lessons! πŸ˜‰

Actually, you can still compile your son's paper doodles into a blog too. Just scan or take a photo of his paper drawings! Before my son started drawing using computer, his illustrations were mainly on paper, and I tried to scan them into softcopy whenever I am free.

Do share your son's drawings if you have time to scan them! I am looking forward to know more doodle enthusiasts like my son! πŸ™‚

Way2GO, haha. Thanks for being very thoughtful not to want to reveal too much of my boy's identity. I guess my family is quite ok with him being identified on the web, as long as he does not expose too much personal information that will put his safety at risk.
