Also a mummy to a todd turning 2yrs old in May.

I sent my girl to playgroup in Jan, but pulled her out after two weeks. Reason? She is just not ready. So, i have decided besides sending her for enrichment classes on weekends, i will teach her on my own.

Btw, i am a full-time working mum, but i actually spend most of my time working from home. Have a reliable helper to assist me.

I am not dismissing those who deposit their kids with childcare ctres (I would have done the same if not for our collective decision to let 1 parent be the main caregiver till my child turns 3-4) And 'collective decision' here involves parents, grandparents, great grandparents etc...

I have sat in at several playgroups with my child. The standard of spoken English frightens me As it is, my girl isnt very articulate compared to kids her age. The thought of her uttering broken English really made me cringe. Then, there is the lack of hygiene (2 adults can't possible monitor all that many kids). Many friends have reported increased incidents of illness after starting playgroup. I can't bear to let her fall ill altho' I know we could say its in the name of \"building immunity\".

And the main reason probably boils down to my own background. I am a teacher. I can't find a reason to not teach my own kid after teaching other people's children for so many years ! I personally feel that regardless of your profession, a parent is the BEST teacher to her child.

Another selfish reason: I wanna be my girl's best friend

natsk

Reply to Mummy natsk: Mommy to a toddler on Mon, 06 Apr 2009 01:31:34 GMT

Welcome to KiasuParents!

:welcome:

Heyya mummy natsk,

That's a cute coming in post..
Play dates... like the sound of that
and plus it helps mummy make
more friends too.

Would you be able to share more on
how this play date will work for you,
like if you're a working mummy then
mebbe weekend dates and if you're
stay-home-mummy (SAHM) then can
be every other day!

May i ask why you are one of a kind,
who is not looking at playgroups for
play opportunities... like the norm?

buds
