<![CDATA[ideal no. of rooms in your house?]]>for your ideal house (regardless of size), how many rooms would you like to have just for your immediate family (you, dh and kids). dont include parents (inlaws) and maid(s) and exclude storerooms.



though it is just dh, dd, ds and myself, i would like to have at least 6 rooms.

3 bedrooms, 1 toy/game room, 1 study (dh), 1 library.

I think your flat still smell fresh coat of paint , tats fast - a year . Mayb plan for 3 yrs ahead will do, Can’t think too far

paint doesn't smell bad now...but that new smell has gone 😢 I loved the feeling of opening the door and sniffing that smell...like sitting in a new car.

I don't think it's a good idea to plan...hubby said I should plan but the kids are only 15 and 19.
son is 19 and will be enlisting for NS next year. let's enjoy the moment...suaku here still enjoying staying in a brand new flat.

initially I thought 2 toilets is a must. but honestly, it's 2 toilets to wash too. 😞
If you use only one for shower, the dry one is quite easy to maintain.

No harm bearing that in mind so that you don't get too attached to this flat. Mindset is important - I am having issues with my parents (my father mainly) at the moment. They are in their 80s in a big house with stairs which my mum is having more difficulty climbing now. They don't want to move, don't want a live-in maid (they have a PT now), don't want to renovate to create a bedroom and bathroom on the ground level, and refuse to give up their cars. Everyone knows that their days in this house are numbered, but they refuse to consider any change or plan for it. I think it will take an accident or severe illness to happen before they agree to move, then we will all have to do everything in a hurry. After looking at them, my husband and I have vowed that we will move into an elderly-friendly small flat by 70 at the latest, before we get too rooted and stubborn!

My current place is a 2 bedder with an open study area. Closed up the open study area so that it can used as a storeroom cum study.

I have 2 girls and so they can share a room. The open kitchen is fine as I don’t do heavy cooking. I actually became more disciplined to keep my kitchen neat.

3 bedder would have been more comfortable but I did not want to take up more loan since I am not working.

yup...when the young move out, I may want to stay in a 3 room flat...like what you mentioned, generate cash from the flat and the cleaning up. a good chance to clear stuff too.
the 5 room is shiok to stay in, but cleaning up does require much time and energy doing so.
we upgraded from a 4A flat...the new 5 room flat is not much bigger.

they may occasionally come back visit us, 3 room may be too small.

mum can stay over if there is an additional bedroom.
son hogs the toilet. if hubby is inside the other and I have a tummy ache, I literally have to rush hubby to finish his bath.
