Hi All!

I think it depends of individual and number of staffs.If more than 50 staffs then they need a receptionist separately.The person a multi-tasker and experienced one then its no problem at all.We have to choose the job which we can handle and suitable for us.

Actually if OT is a big concern, one can always check out during the interview. Ask the interviewer if OT is a requirement for this role. Sometimes rojak job does not mean have to do OT. I worked in a couple of companies, so far, not much OT especially for admin girl. They can go back on time

I think is not a good idea to ask during interview if a lot of OT. interviewers might think you are not 'hardworking'. Then will hire the person who is willing to do ot?

Traditionally people wont ask as they are afraid to lose the opportunity of getting that job. But It is always good to find out so one will know what to expect. If you dont ask then you need to do OT but cannot - how?

I think there is nothing wrong with asking \"does this role need to work late? Is it frequent?\" The interviewer will probably ask your commitment at night. In most instance, the interviewer would have known (or try to find out) that you are married, have children, and how the child care is being arranged. They find out this especially if the job requires to work late.

So if required to do OT hours, what will you do? Quit immediately?

i don’t mind the job scope so long the salary is reasonable, i need the money and the working environment is ok (not hostile, political etc) and no OT.

i don’t mind doing whatever work that is outside my scope of work (I used to be ‘loaned’ to other teams for adhoc jobs, doing other job scope as ‘career enrichment’ etc) so long i get to go home on time.

if told about the various duties during interview and the salary is justified, then maybe.

but if not told about it and found out much later, and salary is not justified, then might have to reconsider. but also depends on how the pp are in the office including the boss…

I think it depends on the person. If you are someone who likes variety, doesnt mind the "rojak" then the person finds it interesting.

There are people who feel they prefer to specialise in one or two areas too.

The other thing is also career path. Do you want to climb the ladder? If you are, then "rojak" is a little difficult to climb (my opinion)

But the role is not only about secretary role.

The role is like \"rojak\"? do Hr payroll, do accounts calculation, do minutes, do receptionist?

Something like \"maid\"- be a cook, be a cleaner, be a nanny, be a teacher, all on the same day?

quite common for small office to bundle up multiple roles upon 1 person.

How big is the company?

Secretary to how many "bosses" ?
